Hi I have a 5770 card and wanted to upgrade it, will my psu power a 7950 ok?

My psu is an OCZ ModXStream 600w, rest of my components are in my sig.

Also what card should I go for? I have around £250.

Thanks.

The Gigabyte Windforce supposedly has the best cooler if you are happy to spend a little more.

Yes, I did consider linking that one. The only draw back is that I think it's voltage locked. If the OP doesn't mind that, then I think that would be one of the best alternatives. :)

Thanks for the input guys, am I right in thinking the locked voltage would only be an issue if I wanted to overclock the card? But then saying that I think i'm leaning towards the ice-Q anyway.

Will it fit in a Fractal Design case ok?

Yup I got that psu and an OC'd 7950 and all is well.

I can but my 775 platform majorly bottlenecks my 7950 and most of the time my gpu usage is only around 50% in modern games lol :p

Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to Friday now!

if you could stretch the budget i would have gone for the GB 7950

the description on the site is wrong (if its a recent edition card which is should be) it has a core clock of 1ghz and memory @ 1250MHz. Even though it is voltage locked, its locked at 1.25V and so can be overclocked higher!

Thanks but I actually ordered the IceQ earlier, £250 was about my limit, especially as I now have to buy some compressed air after taking a look inside my case earlier.

Hi just a quick update.

The card came yesterday and after a hour spent cleaning the inside of my case, it fit perfectly and was installed with no problems. (which is rare for me)

So far I've played arma3 beta on full settings, and it looked great!

I signed up for the free games but 2 of the codes haven't been sent to me yet. :(
