Could you Torture?

I dont particularly like religion and believe its done a lot of harm to the world...but id take religion over people who would torture others simply for their views any day of the week.

I think that is a very rational and fair opinion to have

I think you are a low level troll within this thread and don't actually believe what you are typing, else your views are threatening.
You should have a psychological check.

If you can be bothered to check through my post history on similar topics regarding religion, global overpopulation, and genocide you will see that my posts are all consistent with my beliefs.

It has been argued that my role as an intensive care nurse is part torturer. Imagine being semi awake with a hose pipe down your throat, people are pushing something down it and suctioning your breath away.

I must do this 20 or so times in a 12 hour shift on average to reduce the risk of ventilator acquired pneumonia, and to remove sputum/phlegm that has built up or risk the patient feeling like they are drowning on it.

Also not getting to alarms quick enough, could you imagine hearing sirens and bleeps and not knowing what was going on and not being able to do something about it.

3rd one I'm never guilty of but I know some that are, putting a suction catheter under the patients pillow and leaving it on. Hours and hours of white noise, its a torture technique we use on our mentally and physically strongest soldiers and should never be inflicted on sedated patients.

I'd hazard a guess I undoubtedly have done more good in the world than many and dare say - you. Though it's not a top trumps competition.

I feel sad for you that you genuinely have these feelings of hatred towards certain people and hope that you find some balance and comfort away from those antagonistic and hateful feelings. There is too much of that in the world, why propagate further animosity in the world? Surely that's more dangerous?

I do not personally wish you ill, but as with all other times one associates oneself to a cult/cause/social group you risk the affect of being generalised about in reference to the harm that these groups cause.

I believe that religion has done greater than myself to world in general and agree not all religious people are evil but that religion itself is evil and distributes itself like mentaly abusive brainwashing.

Isnt that because religion has been around a lot longer and has far more adherents that your torture crew?

Would you still feel religion had done more damage if your torture group had been around for say 2000 years and had a billion members? a billion members who were more than willing to torture man, woman or child simply for holding certain, generally harmless on a personal level, beliefs?

Would you feel that people with your beliefs were more damaging than people with religious beliefs?

I could go to almost any lengths to protect those I love, so torture would fall under that. It is something that would be done with a heavy heart though.

The topic covers many areas such as why are there Bishops in the house of lords making having their beliefs infringe on law to the savings made economically and therefore socially if the country was to renounce its Church of England status and disarm.

It is wrong for any country to align itself to a religious banner, especially when the majority of that country does not see itself in any way religious.

How are you misunderstanding this? The topic has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with torturing your fellow humans.

You are 100% welcome to your beliefs regarding religion and in fact these days, a huge number of people agree with you...but you wanting to torture people for any belief is the issue....and if you havent mentioned these urges to your mental healthcare professional, i suggest you do so.
