I think it's a poor show from Valve really. If they had no intentions of following from Episodes then they should have just ended it with a small DLC rather than leaving it open with unanswered questions. Wasn't it once suggested that HL episodes would be subscription based? Glad it wasn't.

The danger for them is that players may have lost interest in the whole plot.

I had to push myself to finish EP1 and got bored half-way through EP2. Not that fussed at this stage tbh, the weirdly-silent-protagonist thing never quite worked for me anyway.
