My flaky mate who I was considering sacking off the 50+ mile Manchester Cycle to do the 26 mile with (no 50+ mile tickets left) has pulled out!

Screw you sunshine, I'll just do the long one. :)

You live in Manchester. You need to go on holiday to see sunshine don't you  :p?

Pouring rain here and I'm stuck in work either way...

Think I'll get out for some long ones on Saturday morning and Sunday evening and then back off the following week ahead of my 100 miler on the 7th...

Need another 10 miles or so to get 500 on the Junedoggle, which was the target there, so should smash that easy enough.

EDIT: Heh, posted and then saw the above comment. Accurate.

Think I'm going to upgrade to Ultegra 6700 hollowtech 2 chainset. Really has gotten rave reviews, and save the big bucks for when I can persuade the wife to let me do a self build.

Any bargain bib shorts around at the moment? Like, under £30. Someone posted a link to some DHB ones at Wiggle the other week, but it looks like they've gone up in price again. If there's nothing better for not much more money I'll be picking up another pair of these from Decathlon for £25 - I've already got one pair and they're pretty good so I'll get another pair if there's no better options.

upgrading to 6700 is great, spending more money above that IMO is not necessary. Just lose weight and train like a demon (I'm not calling you fat, this is just a general comment :) )

Yeah I've no need for DA at all, and like the fact that the Ultegra components that need to be changed most frequently (chain, cassette) are at a really good price point.

The "ultimate project" will be Ultegra Di2.

Thank you. It rides wonderfully, even on GP4Seasons which I think are made from hosepipes.

As its going to be for nice weather only I'm tempted to put some real supple rubber on it.

I quite like my 4seasons. Partly due to the fact that I've only had one fairy visit since I bought my roadie ('09)

Yup. Pretty much (my soggy shoes are on the radiators as we speak). ;)

Yeah, I'll show my sexy face on sat if we're all off out. Or if you fancy a homie if the crew isn't out. I'm not massively bothered about tiring myself out for the Gt Mcr Cycle because it's all bloody flat anyway...

I actually suggested we sack the manchester ride off and went up round the cat/fiddle, winnats pass etc (my mate's from Macclesfield) before he flaked out on me.

What the actual f. One puncture in 14 years?

That's nothing to do with tyre choice, that's your parents selling their souls to Satan in return for keeping the fairy off your back.

I'm always up for a ride up the Cat and Fiddle if you fancy a tour guide at some point. :D Will have to be last weekend in July on as I'm busy this weekend (as above) and I'm off to France next weekend.

I've made it a year without one and I'm starting to get nervous...

I'm not sure if anyone will be out Saturday. Walt's on holiday at the moment and I don't know when he's due back, so I doubt anything will be organised.

If you fancy it I'll be out around eight as usual. I'm planning on heading up either over belmont or round the back of bolton past moss bank park, along the a675 to the m65 roundabout, then back via angelzarke, including the arse end of moor road.

Or we could head up to Adlington and do the imuk loop from there if you remember your way round it from doing it with minty. I've not done it yet.

I'm easy mate. Either's fine by me. I do fancy doing the long route up Anglezarke again seeing as I cocked the segment up last time. If you've got your heart set on the IMUK loop though that's just as good. I can always GPX it and stick it on my edge. To be honest though apart from belmont it's a pretty boring route from what I remember. It's pretty much flat.
