Woot!

Any bargain bib shorts around at the moment? Like, under £30. Someone posted a link to some DHB ones at Wiggle the other week, but it looks like they've gone up in price again. If there's nothing better for not much more money I'll be picking up another pair of these from Decathlon for £25 - I've already got one pair and they're pretty good so I'll get another pair if there's no better options.

Slightly over budget but:

I've got two pairs now and they are still my 'go to' bibs for just sheer comfort. Even over my Castelli.

Sportspursuit have some for £30. No idea if they're any good though.

I got some recently from the planet x shop in Sheffield for £20 but I can't find them on their website.

What the actual f. One puncture in 14 years?

That's nothing to do with tyre choice, that's your parents selling their souls to Satan in return for keeping the fairy off your back.
I thought I was doing well with five in three years. Then again, I think oddjob62 rides less than 500km a year, so it's actually not all that impressive ;)

I'm always up for a ride up the Cat and Fiddle if you fancy a tour guide at some point. :D Will have to be last weekend in July on as I'm busy this weekend (as above) and I'm off to France next weekend.

Yeah last w/e in July works for me up to now. I missed out on doing the tour of the peaks so I fancy doing the CaF, Winnats pass etc at some point.

Any one recommend a rain jacket thing?

But not a proper jacket as such, I already have them, just those really thin things you can put in your pocket to go over jerseys etc. I don't want a really thick thing as I'll get way too hot, just something to keep me from getting drenched.

For this type of weather, 'summer', but wet.

Do you mean a waterproof Gilet or do you want something long sleeve?

Full sleeve - Rapha Rain jacket
Gilet - Castelli Fawesome

Couple of (stolen) pics from my first Sportive last weekend.

Awesome - congratulations Daniel, and good luck!

Be careful here, I've found a couple of rain overcoats run, as in the colour from the leeches through to your under garments when wet, which if you care about your clothing can be pretty bad. I've got an €8 top from Decathlon which is uttery utterly waterproof, but makes me sweat like a pig.

Cheers.

The rain jacket doesn't look to be what I've got in mind. That looks to be a full on rain jacket, not something you can just pull out of your pocket when it starts to rain.

The castelli one looks more like it, I guess I would need to decide whether I'd need sleeveless or not.

I think it'd be best to pop in a bike shop to have a look.

I'm up north in a few weekends, any of you mancunians fancy taking me over a hill or two (I'll need help!)? Will have to double check I can get a ride in.

Might be inconvenient for you as the nearest major city is Burnley, I could possibly drive down to Manchester though.

neeaarly had an off.. half of the road was covered in oil or w/e it was but it was CRAZY bad even my trainers slipped around when i jumped of my bike.. was over taking a car and then lost it and just managed to hold my bike and my self on the road.. that bit needs to be reported! its right before crossing and there must be like 20m of the road covered in that stuff, what ever it is.
