Stephens Kings book, Under the dome has been made into a series.starting in the US on Monday the 24th June and i believe it is airing in the Autumn in thr UK.

I have read the book and thought it was good, i also remember thinkin that it would make a good series, lets hope i was correct.

Ok thats episode one watched, is looking promising esspecially as spielberg is involved, seems to already be veering from the book with the characters but that may just extend the life of the series.

I have read that stephen king also said they could change the ending so that might be interesting.

I think i will watch it as a completely seperate series from the book.

What is anyone elses thoughts?

how involved is he though? he tends to stick his name to stuff as an executive producer and thats it?
Executive producer(s)
Steven Spielberg
Stephen King
Stacey Snider
Darryl Frank
Justin Falvey
Jack Bender
Brian K. Vaughan
Neal Baer

edit lol that dome is brutal :D

The kid with the butterfly knife, seemed like quite a poor actor, not gruff enough, too pretty boy for the role.

other than him, I enjoyed it. The cow was cool hehe.

I will be interested to see how and if his acting improves as he has a big role within the book and has a reason why he is not nice and i would like to see how he acts that.

They already have plans to extend it into multiple seasons beyond the book depending on how successful it is. Not sure how i feel about that really but at least it's off to a good start so far.

To me, this looks like it is tapping into the Lost audience.
Rather than being set on a desert island, it is set in an isolated dome.
I can see there being A LOT of flashbacks, as we get back stories for each character.
Already, they have talked about a buildup of gas in the town, for some mysterious reason.

The next few episodes will tell us if this is heading in the direction of Lost - full of mystery and flashbacks - or not.

Unless Lost this has a coherent and complete plot from the start. King wrote the entire story years ago, the 'writers' of Lost just made it up as the went along (IMO).

Just watched the first episode myself and as others have said it will probably take a couple more episodes before people make their mind up about this. The general story line seems sound though I'm not sure how many series they can hope to get out of a Stephen King book?

Also:

The part with the cow was pretty cool - and so were the effects with the vehicles crashing into The Dome. I'll give it a few more episodes before deciding whether to carry on watching though. :)
