EDL leaders assaulted then arrested in London

Walking down past a mosque or not, it was clear what their intentions were by inviting these two bigots to attend their 'walk of peace':

clearer context as to why the police were maybe a little stricter with them than usual?

not particularly - that story adds no further context to this than what is already obvious... that is that this was obviously a provocative act and not just a charity walk

I just don't think the police/govt are doing themselves any favours by banning these people or by these arrests under spurious reasons.

Criticism of religion is perfectly legitimate so I can't say I agree with the ban on entry to the UK for Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer.

also... those sun glasses are hilarious.

Cringe worthy- They got their free publicity from their so called "charity walk" The police went full retard on camera and no Muslims were offended in the process.

If it was a bunch of Muslims chanting **** England and **** the police blah blah, whilst burning the union jack, they would be allowed to continue and on their way.

As far as I could tell the Police were talking to punchy guy? It just happened off camera.

And as mouthy EDL guy wouldn't shut up and listen then I'm not surprised he got arrested. The police are not there as free stooges for the next EDL publicity video, which was clearly what he was trying to turn this into.
EDL clearly need a little more practice at the Photo Op concept.

the route conditions had been imposed in advance and were deliberately and wilfully ignored by the edl to incite publicity from idiots. it worked, well done to the op and many others for falling for it.

So let me get the gist of this. These guys were arrested for no other reason other than the 'local community', and we all know what that is the politically correct term for, would cause trouble?

So is this how it is now, you get assaulted on the streets of Britain and you're the one who's arrested? That is absolutely shocking behaviour by the police. I thought they were there to uphold the law, not start acting like some third world paramilitary force, grabbing people off the street just because of what another group that's prone to violence might do.

Agree, shocking Police behaviour.

Falling for what?

Fairly shocked that Mr Dolph backs the nebulous logic that the police can tell a small group of people where they can and cannot walk in public property and arrest them for it, regardless or whether or not it was pre-determined. Also they were arrested before the event so we're also supporting thought police?
