Guys,
I was wondering if you have ever come across anything like this before?

I recently sold an iPhone 4 on eBay and the buyer is claiming they were unable to sync the phone with their music on iTunes. They claim everything else synced fine apart from the music.

Note: I did factory reset the phone using the iOS.

I asked them if they had ticked the box on the music in iTunes in order to sync to the phone but all they say is that it is not working and there must be something wrong with the phone.

I assured them the phone was in perfect working order and I never had any issues with it the whole time I owned it. It does seem very odd to me that everything else was fine apart from the syncing of the music.

The buyer then claims they took the phone to a mobile phone shop and they charged £10 to fix the phone. The shop allegedly said that when the phone had been reset to factory settings something failed and caused music syncing to block. He managed to undo the block and reset it again.

Now the phone is syncing with the buyers iTunes.

Thoughts?

Yeah I have asked them to get a receipt of some description from the person that apparently fixed the phone.

They were asking for a £10 refund for this so called work that was carried out.

I don't think it's your problem. He had the option to return it to you but decided to take it elsewhere. You have no obligation to pay the £10. He did that on his own volition.

Had a similar issue a year or so back with an iphone that I sold on ebay. I stated it had some scratches on the screen and took pictures of them. when the guy got the phone he claimed that the scratch would soon develop into a crack and that he wanted money (£25) for a replacement screen. load of bs.

I eventually decided to give him the money of avoid hassle, as he threatened to open paypal dispute.

Really interested in the outcome if you refuse refund. Wouldn't be surprised if the person is lying

Did you get your feedback already? If so just ignore him and leave him negative feedback for being a moron. :D

If not, open a dispute.

The person did open a dispute however they have now closed it as they state this so called repair man fixed the phone for them.

They haven't left feedback yet but I have left it for them as I normally do if someone pays immediately.

I am very sceptical about this £10 refund business as it just sounds like nonsense to me.

What annoys me more than anything is I take care of things I purchase and when I sell them on I am as honest as I can be.

It just seems that some folk want stuff for nowt and think they can take wee. :(

was the phone factory restored and de authorised from your account? if so it should be like a new phone settings wise.

anyway, I wouldn't be issuing any refund.

Just ignore him, most Apple users will moan if it doesn't work straight out the box. If he's too stupid to reset the phone and has to pay someone else to do it that's his problem.

Did he contact you before taking it to the phone shop? Tell him you would have remoted in to his pc and checked it yourself had he given you the opportunity and as such he is not getting any kind of refund.

I did factory restore the phone but not so sure about de-authorizing it from my account.

How would one go about doing this?

The person never informed me prior to taking it to the shop.

You should be able to do it through iTunes. Select the "Store" drop down box and click "View Account (Your Apple ID Here)". Login and click "Manage Devices" you should be able to remove the iPhone that way if it is listed. If not just click "Deauthorise All".
