all just a marketing ploy to rustle up a bit of hype and interest.... like the steam trading cards.... I don't even.... what? I have pretty much all the ones you can get for my games... so what... i sell them for like 40p each...(if anyone would actually buy them from me) thanks steam!

You get exp towards ranks the most by completing the steam treading cards and getting the badges.

Besides, 40 hours in 2 weeks is nothing, I and many others have topped 100 on occasion, she just has a lot of money, or maybe she won one of those Valve comps a few years back when there were 1500 or so games on Steam and boom.
