Is it me or do we not hear much of Welsh bands these days, specifically the well known ones?

Three bands I love (Feeder, Manics and Stereophonics) used to be everywhere back in the day; they were always talked about, always played on the radio, etc. Now no one ever speaks about them, despite them all releasing new albums in the past few years and doing a few festivals. Manics even played on the X-Factor the other night in NZ... is that how bad it's become?

Same can sort of be said for Lostprophets. The only thing that brought them back into the spotlight was the singer's arrest! Great stuff.

Best three bands ever to come out of Wales and no one wants to hear of them anymore. Shame. :(

The Automatic had an insanely good run when they started out. I watched them a ton of times in the local venues before during the time they were up and coming. They exploded to the top of the charts!

Then 'something' happened, their second album was crap and they fizzled out :/

-Also, don't forget Super Furry Animals.

You're right though, none of them seem to be doing anything..

Bullet for My Valentine, whilst rubbish, are quite big. So too are The Blackout and Kids in Glass Houses.

Don't forget the Manics played "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next" on NZ ****e-factor so it was firmly a tongue-in-cheek appearance :D

Don't forget Catatonia (and Cerys Matthews). She's one of those (a bit like Fergie used to be from Black Eyed Peas) who could look really hot sometimes and then others like an absolute heifer!

Other bands:
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci
McLusky
Future of the Left
The Alarm

I've seen the Manics live three times now - the last time at a local level rather than the large stadiums before.
I still so highly rate them as a live act. The crowd just go wild and the set-list is always perfect (not difficult when you've got such a great back catalogue).
But you're right - just not hearing anything about them just recently.

No one cares about bands anymore.

Last good album Manics did was in 2009 with Richie's old lyrics. Figures.

What's Elin Fflur up to these days?

Exactly. One of the first in a long line of bands with absolutely crap songs but a DUMB but catchy line that you can sing over and over.

'Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruby, ahhhhhahhhahhahha'
'What's that coming over the hill, is it a monster'
'I predict a riot, I predict a riot'
'take me out'
'i bet that you look good on the dancefloor'
'cos it was all yellow'
'i'm mr brightside'

Total dross.

The only welsh band worth their weight in gold is Datblygu. End of story.

oohh good God Cerys Matthews was f ing hot, always thought it was just me that noticed the heifer look every so often :p

I don't ever remember Feeder being particularly big

I can seriously only recall one of their songs, the CD playerplayerplayerplayer one.

Didn't realise Feeder were welsh, and I'm welsh.

They had success with the album the cd player song was on (echo park) but thats the only album they had any major success with I think.

After years of tireless touring as a proper band with some great songs that nobody noticed Feeder recorded a good 50% of Echo Park as a tongue in cheek effort to be commercial and low and hold it worked spawning some of their biggest tracks. The lyrics to Buck Rodgers (The CD Player Song) were just supposed to be temporary filler on a demo but someone said it was catchy so it was released!

Feeder are awesome live.

They've always been brilliant live saw them back in the day at Nottinghams Rock City (Muse were the support act!) they were awsome perfect day, tangerine and High were just sublime.
