I'VE DONE IT! I'VE DONE MY FIRST 50 MILER! Actually, I'VE DONE MY FIRST METRIC CENTURY! http://app.strava.com/activities/64882266
Was out with the whole intention of riding up to York Race Course and back, working out to be about 50 miles. My lovely missus was suppose to be at home till I'm home, but decided she needed to go in to work early and conveniently took my house keys. Had to put in an extra effort, climbing up a 'little' hill which nearly killed me after over 55 mile ride.
Got home in the end. Now for a cold water soak!
I went out to do this segment: http://app.strava.com/segments/1223397
Just noticed an epic fail. I wasn't sure exactly where the S/F was and pulled in when I thought I was passed it but just realised I pulled in short of the finish, stopped for a couple of minutes then rolled past the Finish oof! Should be able to take a couple of minutes of my time next try though:

They should show up in your rides.
When you have uploaded something and you go into the details of it, scroll down and there will be a list of all the segments that you covered on that ride.
(you can also use the explore tab at the top to see a map of segments but ti shows everything so obviously you wont have a time on every segment.)
I'm always doing that. This segment near us is a sod, because it's really hard work for the first half, then it levels off and there's a nice viewpoint where you can stop and have a breather... Except the other half is just around the corner and you're nowhere close to finishing the segment.
Our lot usually do it in two parts, but last time I did it I made it all the way up, following one other lad, and then nearly died at the top waiting for everyone else, who didn't even make it in the end - they sent one envoy to tell us they were turning round and we were welcome to do the longer loop we were aiming for on our own!

I can't believe how flat that ride is, I'd love to be able to knock out a ride that far with that elevation. My 6 miles back from work has 250ft of climbing lol.
Nice work though!

Strava Comment said:So, it's obvious that all elevation is not created equal but this is ridiculous:
Stage 3 TdF:
Thomas de Gendt - iPhone: 17,973 feet!!! http://app.strava.com/activities/64310496
Laurens ten Dam - Forerunner 210: 14,862 feet!! http://app.strava.com/activities/64282368
Roy Jeremy - Garmin 500: 7,493 feet http://app.strava.com/activities/64198958
Marco Milano - Garmin 510: 7,956 http://app.strava.com/activities/64110049
Surely the height of the road is mapped, why use the gps locaton for it? Just get the x and y and the map will tell you the height..
I wonder if different app gives different read out?
I am using my Windows Phone 8 for all my loggings. I get different readings of speed and elevation when compared to my manager's when we do the same ride, despite us being wheel to wheel. He uses a Garmin 200.
Maybe my elevation is under-recorded?![]()
