Ffffffuuuuuuuuuu. Cleaned my bike lat night and just doing some last minute maintenance before heading to my parents. Between last night and now both tubes have punctured. How the hell.

Sabotage!

Were you supposed to spend the day with the other half and forgot?

35 miles for me today, I'm coming back from knee surgery so I'm still getting back into it but this ride has to be one of the nicest I've ever done beautiful weather and countryside.

Anyone tried the Torq gels? I had some orange and banana today and they were really nice. I also dropped one and a car ran it over :(

But you didn't hear that from me.
That wont remove the section of the ride where I was in the car though - I don't want to get flagged on Strava for being a doper!

It's the only explanation ;)

Managed to get down to Halfords for a couple of over priced tubes and have got those on.

I was going to cycle 13 miles to Warrington and get the train to my parents from there but it's chuffing roasting here, and I don't want to spend any more time cycling with a rucksack than I have to, so I think I'll get the train from the station 2 minutes walk round the corner from my house and go a different route!

Note to self: buy panniers.

Just trim it on Strava. Upload it and then edit it.
I have done, but it means cutting off the 15k I did after I got dropped off - I didn't get a lift all the way home. I thought I might be able to upload the TCX file again and then crop the first 100km off, leaving the 15k I cycled at the end, but Strava won't let me do it. I guess I'll just have to chalk it up to experience and make sure I turn off the Garmin before I get in the car.

I managed to get another puncture today, second one in three rides. Starting to think I might need more than 100psi in the tyres, as I think they may have been pinch flats. I kept the tube that broke today so I can check to see if anything penetrated it. I might just use it as an excuse to get better tyres. Buying new toys is part of the joy of cycling after all, right?

Ah. For that you'll need proper software like Adze or similar.

Right. Question. I have a Sigma Cuberider II light on the back of my bike. The elastic that holds it in place has broken. Where can I buy a replacement? Or what can I use instead?

Upload to Garmin connect then export the GPX and upload that to Strava. Will let you duplicate the ride then crop as needed.

That was what I had in mind too, but when I try to upload the GPX I exported from Garmin connect, Strava says;

activity_338310935.gpx is a duplicate of 07/06/2013 Croydon, Greater London, United Kingdom

So it knows that it's the same ride. Then I had a thought - if I export the first bit of the ride to a GPX file, then delete the ride from Strava, it'll let me upload the full route again. I was then able to crop the first bit off (i.e. up until I got dropped off), then uploaded the first bit of the ride again. Lo and behold; the two sections split into two separate rides, and a happy Saundie. Thanks :D

Did a 78 miler from Welshpool to llandudno, stopped for a drink at the horseshoe pass cafe. Really good ride, got a bike knackered at around 60 miles but ate lots l, had a rest and was fine. Even beat my mates at beach tennis when I got there, excellent stuff. Fish and chip time now..

Never that far away from a mate/wife with a car you mean!

One of my hardest cycling experiences was my mum randomly passing me, then stopping and offering me a lift 97km into my first (and only) metric century. I rang her 15km later to pick me up from a pub on her way home.

So what actually improves in your muscles to make you better at endurance?

I get hills and sprints as obviously they just get bigger and stronger and your cardio improves, but what about 80 miles at a low-medium pace?
