That doesn't make our batting performance any better.

Nor does it justify our decision to bat first. We could have had them all out by lunch if we'd bowled first.

Edit: Urgh, I love Michael Vaughan as much as the next England cricket fan, but his commentary is boring as sin.

I've not seen a supposed top order batsman look as uncomfortable since Rudolph blessed my screen with more play and misses per innings than most average in their entire careers.

Think the pitch was ropey from the start.

Only gonna get worse too, though that's not why early English wickets fell. They were given away.

Trent Bridge is usually a 300 par type pitch, we were short in the first innings for sure but could have been worse

What an odd first test day, glad we pulled it back this afternoon. Love the plot changes....I might have jinxed poor old joe root though.
