Mos Def - force fed like Guantanamo detainees.

I've always liked Mos Def in films/music and his stint in Dexter season 6 but not sure what to make of this.

I could understand it being painful maybe if it was your first time and you were fighting against them putting it in or they were really ramming it in but you would think that it really wouldn't be that painful or uncomfortable once you got used to it. And given that the medical staff do these daily over and over again it should be fairly straight forward for them to do avoiding pain.

Seems to me like others have already said that this is being made to look worse then it is. As horrible as it sounds I hope Mos Def had real pain as I have always respected him maybe he have narrow nose channels or something but I doubt that to be honest. Just looks like making a meal out of it to get his point across which to the jump on the band wagon complain about everything brigade they will eat this up.

We have let students practice doing this on us and its really not as bad as it look in the video.

Agree.
In hospital last July I had a small steel tube going down from my mouth in to my stomach to drain it off for 3 days
Never hurt going in or out. What a baby or he is putting it on for the TV?

The procedure is not the problem it's the restraint. As he has not placed under restraint under the same circumstances it's hardly comparable.

What does his political sway have to do with anything?

The guy you're quoting is called 'PooBrain' for good reason. Just read a few of his posts and you'll soon notice that he didn't euphemistically name himself in a serendipitous way, it was in fact quite deliberate.

Yes, maybe they haven't had a trial but I don't really think the tribal regions are the sort of place your average Westerner goes on a holiday. If you are going to these regions you are hardly an "innocent". Unless someone of course can think of a really good reason why people would go there for a vacation seeing as none appeared to have family there.

Utter pussy. Had various nasal scopes myself - it's no worse than "mildly uncomfortable" and that's with the nose being infected/inflamed.

The guy needs to grow a pair & drop the drama.

While I can imagine it being an unpleasant experience (though not so unpleasant as to beg the nurses to stop), I'd prefer that to the sensation of slowly starving to death.

I doubt anyone goes into a hunger strike expecting it to be easy. You're either fed forcibly or die. Or stop the hunger strike.

So are you saying the people forced against their will are also just feeling mildly uncomfortable? or just Mos Def who is making a dramatic video?

I imagine being strapped to a chair and resisting is a bit worse than casually agreeing to the procedure.

I think it's the case of Mos Def making an overly dramatic video. My girlfriend has to do NG feeds regularly on children and young adults with eating disorders, and she's had it done to herself though training and what not. She said he looked like he was just being overly dramatic about it.
