Don't particularly want Suarez at Arsenal. Not for 40 million!

He's good, but not hat good. Plus, why do we want a player with his reputation.

He doesn’t want to stay in England, so why are we interested?

It's either a smoke screen or Wenger is getting desperate.

Because he would improve us as a team and as stated would also improve our chances of winning a trophy.

There are probably loads of horrible people that play football, drunks, gamblers, even wife beaters. If you win people soon forget.

Hopefully a great signing, always a risk getting players from Scotland but this boy is young hungry and looks quality unlike that ridiculous shirt, we were crown paints era liverpool last year and now we are Arsenal! Bring back our stripes (or maybe the anniversary sash) but none of this rubish all red stuff we are not Cardiff!

He should be decent, the right kind of player we need so cork and morg are our only 2 options. I wish we looked like arsenal, it's a Swindon kit this year :p (just wont buy it again really)

Great news for Southampton!!

BEST NEWS OF THE SUMMER!! :D:cool:

Tottenham Hotspur are set to table an opening bid of £20 million for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke next week.

Source: Telegraph

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is expected to make the first move in his bid to sign the Belgium international by submitting a formal offer, in a clear attempt to test the resolve of Aston Villa chairman Randy Lerner.

Though Villa are insistent that any bids under £25 million will be instantly rejected, Spurs are confident of completing a deal for Benteke and believe the price tag placed on the 22-year-old is unrealistic.

Villa have made it clear that only a straight cash offer will be considered and they are not interested in any Spurs players as part of the deal, but Villas-Boas has the backing of chairman Daniel Levy to kick off what is certain to be a bitter battle to prise the forward from Lerner.

Spurs are prepared to offer Benteke around £70,000 a week – a significant increase on his current salary at Villa Park – and can promise him first-team football, with Emmanuel Adebayor set to be sold before the start of the season.

But Lerner is believed to be in combative mood over the future of Benteke, who stunned Villa manager Paul Lambert on Monday by handing in a transfer request.

Benteke has been given extended leave by Lambert and is not scheduled to make his first appearance at pre-season training until Thursday.

Spurs are likely to have made their first bid by that time and are determined to press for a resolution before they fly out to Hong Kong for the Barclays Asia Cup later this month.

i'm not comfortable with £20m. if it's a performance related fee, fair enough but a 150+% rise in price in one season is ... well typical of the pl tbh :p

Quite happy that Shaw's signed a new contract for Southampton (although I'd have preferred him at Liverpool). At least he's not going to Chelsea to rot on the bench.

Looks like wenger is staying for at least another few years. DM will be so happy :D

LOL:D yep seems like hes in discussions to extend his contract. He knows PSG want him but from what SSN were saying, his heart is in Arsenal.

Id prefer it if Arsenal concentrated on getting some players in rather than discuss options with Wenger...its not like Wenger is going to go anywhere at the moment, still has a contract till end of next season iirc.

I'm grinning ear to ear about it still, not only is he actually going to play football and get better (instead of the usually rot on the bench thing after one good season) but its the first time in a while a player has been very clear they want to sign a pro contract back in January and then following through on his 18th in July :)

Suarez will win Arsenal games, he's a massive talent and worth 40 million.

The antics and behavior he brings however are horrendous.

Arsenal would for all intents and purposes be better off with him than without, but it doesn't feel like a real bid, his behavior just doesn't match Arsenal as a club.

Bizarre rumors.

Looks like Gary Hooper could be on his way out.

Although I think Spurs do need to sign a top striker, I think if we're getting rid of Ade then Hooper for anything under £10m would be a good shout for a third striker. He's only 25 and he's scored over 80 goals in about 130 games. That's pretty impressive. Four of the 31 he scored in the season just gone were in the champions league as well.

He's got an incredible record at Celtic and I'm pretty sure a lot of that experience will be transferable to the premier league. Would love to see him at the Lane.

Wenger will soon train any spontaneity or improvisation out of him and he will learn to pass it back rather than forwards and will be told he will be fined a weeks wages if he shoots from outside the box.
