George Zimmerman has been acquitted of all charges over the death of black teenager Travyon Martin in Florida.

Mr Zimmerman was freed after the jury deliberated for more than 15 hours over two days in the murder trial.

The jurors notified the judge on Saturday night, shortly before 10pm local time, that they had reached a decision.

This has been an interesting case, quite a large number of black communities have threatened riots and such if Zimmerman "got away with it".

After watching the live trial it was the correct decision, all the #nojustice or whatever it is on Twitter is from people that haven't watched any of the trial I imagine :/.

I liked a few of the quotes from Zimmerman's lawyers during the press conference, when asked about how he was treated by the Judge the defense attorney West replied "I'd like to keep my BAR license for atleast another couple of years". OMara (other defense attorney) basically called out the media for the way they've portrayed the trial.

Step 1. Conceal a gun
Step 2. Stalk young African American
Step 3. Start a fight with young African American
Step 4. Get your ass kicked
Step 5. Use gun

Enjoy your free murder \o/

He is definitely guilty of a few of those charges but he got away on sheer luck and maybe some court corruption. He will never be a free man anyways, just watch what happens to him.

Of course he's a free man, he was acquitted of all charges. Surely you're not suggesting that a certain 'community' are prone to violence and will be trying their damnedest to hurt an innocent person, are you?

Really? have you got evidence that the jury didn't hear?

Well I have you do know he was a drug dealer and filmed his mates beating up a guy and stole his bike.

I'm glad of the verdict now he can go on now and try to live a normal life.

He followed Martin until told to stop, there's no evidence Zimmerman started a fight.

Your opinion is based on misinformation.

There is a lot of bad feeling about this across the States, many of my friends firmly believe Trayvon was the innocent party in all this, however the only two people who know the truth are Zimmerman and Trayvon....and one of them is dead.

I don't honestly know what the Jury could have done other than acquit, whether he is actually innocent or not, I really do not know. I don't think anyone does.

I really do hope if people take anything away from this (other than... y'know, don't kill people), it's the "us vs them" mentality that all forms of media in the U.S. are all too happy to perpetuate is beyond toxic and needs stopping. All the while we've seen these "race reversed" pictures of Martin and Zimmerman, illustrating that if Martin was white and Zimmerman was black... it'd be an "open and shut case". Forgetting that he's Hispanic...

Something else that bothers me is this idea that we've abandoned justice to let Zimmerman go free. As if it was a decision taken lightly and that literally nobody on that jury cares about the fact that Martin is dead. People might as well be saying, "I don't like the idea that he got off--so the jury, and justice in general, must be wrong."

Arghh...

I haven't kept up with the trial, but whilst I don't doubt there's a reason for the decision the outcome is going to cause more race riots.

A bad situation in every sense.

This is another incident that on my view increases the case for not letting the general public have handguns. Travyon was just walking home from a shop - by his own admission Zimmerman approached Trayvon and so started the incident. Without a gun it would have just been an argument with a few cuts and bruises. Zimmerman brought a gun to the argument and now someone is dead.

Clearly he has been found not guilty of murder. But he does retain some moral responsibility for causing the situation to arise.

Why is this case more significant than other gun crimes in america?

There was a lot of people like Obama\black leaders trying to make them selves noticed. So they used this case.
but they jumped on the wrong band wagon. Drug dealer gets shot and killed is nothing new.

Just read the article on the bbc website. Obama :- if I had a son he would look like trayvon  weird thing to say. I'm sure if he had a son he would look a bit different.

Concealing carry permits exist in America, he didn't stalk him that's just a buzzword, he didn't start the fight and used his gun after having his head bashed against the floor and shouting for help with no response. The evidence was consistent with this and Trayvon had damaged knuckles and no other injuries.

No doubt you think he's a racist too?

I doubt Obama needs the Trayvon case to get noticed somehow......
