Pacific Rim - Epic new Scfi Movie

Did anyone see the post-film scene?

Pearlman cuts his way out of the baby monster and says "where's my other shoe?!" :D

Yeah I was embracing the epic music at the end and then stumbled upon the scene.

Not sure how he survived that long inside a Kaiju?

Pacific Rim is Great Cinema. Not since Jurassic Park have a felt overwhelmed by the scale and immersion of a film. Del Toro somehow manages to capture the micro and the monstrous on a level that translates perfectly to the big screen. The giant feels giant, and we feel very, very small. The robots feel connected to their pilots by a mastery of internal reaction shots to external events.

Is it Loud? Yes. Does it have plot holes? Yes. But its so engrossing, well executed and entertaining I just don't care. I am not even sure this film will translate well to the home movie scene because the cinema does it so much justice. Do not go to your local cinema because its local; go to the best screening you can.

We need to support films like this.

living near peterborough the closest imax is london :/ im still on the fence with 3d or not in a normal cinema, i know we are gonna love it

such a shame!

Look for the showing on the biggest screen they have, then don't worry about 2d or 3d just go and see it. I'm gonna see it again on Wednesday, 1st film since inception that I've seen more than once.

I saw this last night, thought it was pretty entertaining, though how on earth a few helicopters managed to lift each of those jaegers is a mystery to me, must be way in excess of their lift capacity.

Saw it last night and it was pretty good. Most of the humans were cliched and annoying (Charlie Day was excellent though) but the action made up for it.

We saw this on Sunday and really enjoyed it. Felt like it harped back to the monster movies of old. Really entertaining.
May well go and catch this again on the big screen.

Really enjoyed it! Just disengaged my brain and watched. The set pieces and sense of scale was great and the human parts were decent.

This has pretty much clinched whether to go and see it for me. Turning your brain off basically insinuates you have to be a mindless dribbling retard to not see it for what it is.

Not at all. It means you can watch the film without questioning how everything works. Could that giant robot support it's own weight? Would the pilots die from the thing falling over? Irrelevant for the enjoyment of the movie.

Switching your brain off has nothing to do with how intelligent you are or have to be, it's to do with whether you should be expecting realism and getting angry when things don't "make sense"

I don't agree. I think you should get angry when things don't make sense.
The things you describe are not good examples, as they are all possible. Metal can support things, and people can survive crashes in vehicles (a little bit of bending of those rules is ok, i.e surviving very large crashes, or supporting very large things)
The type of thing I am talking about is, say for example, The Expendables! Where a man is sliding down a wire with a AK47 in one hand and accurately killing men who are in cover, whilst all their bullets seemingly miss.

Your right it's nothing to do with how intelligent I am, but I just prefer not to be insulted by assuming I am thick to begin with and that I won't notice the stupidity of plot.
If someone has to turn off their brain then something is definitely wrong imo.

Based on that statement then you'll be fine, there are a couple of bits which are a little silly, but nothing that is so blatant out the box dumbness on the expendables/80's action film scale...
