I would say only Yaya Toure was possibly world class when they came over here, and I can't remember any of them being chased by other bigs teams at the time they signed.

They were all world class before they came here... With the possible exception of a few that I can't remember, being Overmars, Pires and Van Nistelrooy

Were they ********, if yuo beleive that your definition of world class must be really low.

Bergkamp was incredible when he went to Arsenal, as was Overmars. Torres burst onto the scene at Liverpool. In his first couple of seasons there he was the best in the world, implying that he was world class when he went there. Sheva never played well at Chelsea, but when he went there he was world class. You could argue the same for Crespo. Ballack was one of the best around when he went to Chelsea as well.

The debate is how good they were at the time they moved, not how well they played for their new club.

Just because they weren't chased by any of the big teams, it doesn't mean they're not world class. Only Real Madrid chased Ronaldo. Must mean he wasn't world class when he went there.

Torres was not world class when he signed for us, he developed into a world class striker sure, same with Berkamp, overmars etc. All very good at the time they signed but thats totally different from being World class when signing for a team. Ballack was on the wind down, was he ever world class, debateable, yes he was very very good though.

Shevchencko and Toure I'll give you as being world class but as I said originally, with the top top players if there is a choice between a EPL club and a.n.other, the player will always choose a.n.other.

Never said that, guess reading isnt a strong point for you. oh and  back at you.

Looks like it's real.

Man Utd waiting to hear back from Barcelona after lodging 30 m euro bid for Cesc Fabregas

I can't see Barcelona accepting an offer like that.

Ahh, so the argument isn't that world class talent doesn't come to England, but that it doesn't come if other big clubs want it?

Makes more sense. Arguably because other clubs (Madrid, Barca particularly) generally pay more though?

Pretty much, you only have to look at all the top players that were apparently signing for english clubs only to sign for Real, Bayern, Monaco, PSG, Dortmund etc.

The journos are getting a hell of a lot wrong this summer, more so than usual..
