Try some carbon assembly paste. It's designed to give a bit more friction between a carbon frame and a carbon seatpost so that you dont need to use too much clamping force on the post.

just had a chat with me dad.. apparently it has alloy lugs so its not carbon on carbon, weve tracked down a new seatpost bolt for it so fingers crossed that will work http://www.koo-bikes.com/look-seatp...ightkg461-loose-for-272mm-seatposts-1-pc.html
also he's bringing me a set of 'less worn' tyres on thursday :D

EDIT: turns out the back of the carbon seatpost is a bit chewed up, im starting to think i need a new post instead of (or maybe as well as) the post clamp :(
Looks like my Ghetto bike is gonna cost me to get it upto scratch.. i just checked the price of carbon seat posts... :eek:

Rule #60: Ditch the washer nut...

I do not comply with that one. If I have no washer nut I just get an annoying rattle from the valve stem against the wheel.

Yeah, there's a bunch I ignore. I use the washer nuts, and I keep the valve caps on, because I have yellow valve caps that much my tyres and frame and are therefore good for at least an extra 5 Watts.

Finally ordered my first road bike, went for an Eddy Merckx AMX-1 from Winstanley cycles for £600. Full 10 speed Tiagra groupset and Shimano RS10 wheels. Was reduced from £1000 (which is pretty high for the spec, but i think at £600 its a good buy spec wise at least).

Seems to have had a few decent reviews so hopefully it'll be a good solid first road bike for me, that i'll not need/want to upgrade to quickly.

Ordered it on my mobile phone whilst on the throne. Bet not too many people can say that. haha

It's the Dunwich Dynamo this weekend. I am actually feeling nervous about it :|

There's nothing to be nervous about, just pace yourself it isn't a race. You'll see people on all types of bikes of various levels of fitness. As long as you pace yourself and eat & drink little/often you'll breeze it :)

I'm more nervous about my bike getting trashed in the lorry on the way back, and having to sit next to a sweaty cyclist on the coach ;)

really wish they would sort out city's with wagons. having night deliveries for building works and parcels would solve a lot of issues, as well as make them less hectic over all.

Now that I can relate too. The thought of putting my bike on a train, or in anyone else's hands scares the hell out of me :p

Finally plucked up the courage to tackle what I thought was gonna be hard climbs (Spittal Hardwick Lane) turned out better than I thought. Even went 1 further and climbed Queens Park Dr which was actually, harder but focus and spinning helped.

Never felt like punching the air so hard when I did it.

All 3 'little climbs' only net me 500ish feet of climb :eek: I need to loop it again and to it about 8 times to net me a quarter of Rapha Rising challenge! This week's gonna be fun!

I'm still chuffed about cycling to Paris! :D

First club run since on sunday - my shoulder was absolutely killing me so i've had to book in for another sports massage again.

On the ride though - people were picking my bike up and saying "you rode to Paris on THAT!?" i didn't think it was that bad although they reckoned their bikes were half the weight after picking it up. :o

Also a reasonably paced club run - 17mph average on way there and 16mph average overall - got 'goaded' into it...

My competitive nature came out again... kept being told off for going too quick so trying to stick at head of group to 17/18mph as they weren't the strongest riders so suited me...
Then 1 guy not in our group comes past... The rest of the lads shout "Go Dan...."... I'm like "I won't - I'll be sensible." Then another one of the group comes past after him and that was like a red rag to a bull... "**** that!" And i got up to over 35mph then passed the guy and thought - stuff this i'll have him as well and carried on after the guy who originally passed us.... 36.5mph i did passing him lol.

Small world. Just picked the Cervelo fork up I won from eBay, turns out the seller actually owns the cycling shop that built my R5 :)

Well had a look at the Scott CR1 SL i was interested in at work and agreed to buy it.
Get it Wednesday when its been stripped back to the frame.

Decision now need to be made on the groupset, its going to be either;

DA9000 but ~£1300. :(
SRAM Red 22...price TBD, release date TBD!
Campag Chorus, £835ish (Cyclebargains, never heard of them though) and would have to sell my DA9000 C24 and get something else (eg Camapg Shamal £650 at Ribble maybe). Would save me ~£250 compared to DA9000.
Would also need a replacement BB for the Campag or SRAM.

Was going to build it myself but thinking of using this guy opposite my work;
https://www.facebook.com/pages/CycleTechNo1/378236552217544?ref=br_tf
£50 for a bike build.

A few guys at work have used him and said he is awesome and not expensive.
