Gym Rats Summer Strongman Meet - 20th July

Right chaps!

The events are set (pending any disasters), and they will be revealed tomorrow. If you were planning on structuring your weeks training so as not to be fried for this most delicious of bro-days, I can assure you that it won't make any difference.

To make sure that the day is fun for everyone, the static (i.e. heavy) events have been kept to a minimum and there will be accommodations for different abilities. This means lots of cardio, which means you may die (please bring LOTS of water).

I've just checked back through the thread and I'd forgotten that we'd set the time to start lifting at around 1pm. This will be fairly suicidal in the heat, we will be doing everything outside. My current plan is to get there at around 2pm and start lifting when everything is set up, which will be 2:30 ish. If this messes anyone up, let me know as it isn't set in stone.

Cardio? RIP.

Good call on the later start, we will still need plenty of lotion but shouldn't be as brutal.

Sounds good to me, I will aim to get there for 1:30/2 as traffic could be an issue.

What's the postcode and is parking OK?

Parking will be fine, and is free at the gym but we'll need to move at least a little when we go for food.

So phaggots, this is tomorrow

Me and Scott have been discussing long and hard, for countless hours, debating back and forth about the venue for food. Sometimes coming to blows, in a sexual way, but I think we've come to a decision

We're going to go with

Parking in Oxford is going to be a nightmare tomorrow with this weather and people heading out to eat/drink. Which means Cowley Road will be next to impossible to get one space, let alone a few. So this place is the other side of Oxford, has plenty of parking and is delicious, and that comes with a Scott and Dom guarantee.

Where's parking near Sojo, just so I can get an idea. Does look delicious, we have a place like that in MK called Taipan. You know it's good, because Chinese eat there.

Worcester Street is the closest and we should all be able to get in there. There is also pay and display at the train station now (apparently!) which you can still basically see from the restaurant, and Gloucester Green is a 5 minute walk away.

The food is honestly amazing. I'm getting a food boner thinking about the pork joints...

Taking my shirt off during off season?

No thanks Jeff
