Top Gear (Series 20) Returns Sunday 30th June 2013

Just started watching it

it's not a torch :D

Electrics the future, more torque, far more potential than gas powered. Just need new battery tech to trickle out of the labs and into mass production.

I don't think the budget exists for all episodes to contain super car races across the world and their world challenges, so they have to pad it out with low budget stuff.

Does anyone actually know what their budget is? Considering it's one of the most watched shows on the planet should be decent no?

This hovercraft element sucks. They must be on a budget.

Yes, because building a 1 off custom hovercraft and then trashing half of Stratford is cheap. Although I doubt they built the hovercraft.

Its an entertainment show for more than just car fans. And going by the way my GF just wet herself laughing, its working.

As for the SLS, does anyone else see the future being hybrids from that? The only problem with the electric SLS was the range, which is easily sorted with a small quiet petrol engine charging the batteries.

Tbf, just how high budget really are those supercar road trips? The cars will be provided, they just need some camera cars, equipment and a crew.

Yeah, especially last weeks with the super duper obvious Santander plant during the street track scene.
part of the deal to use the mclaren.

It sucked because it took up far too much show time.

I doubt the hovercraft segment was done for budget reasons, i can't see how that would cost less than any other road test or driving trip. Purely for entertainment, which it did well for the the most part. The shouting and getting people wet got a bit repetitive though.

Would have thought elf an safety would provent them doing it in an unorganised unprepared way.

Why's that then? As long as they've risk assessed it, and have suitable controls in place there's no reason why it couldn't be done for real.

I'm not saying it wasn't a plant but there's no H&S reason it had to be.
