Ancelloti would have been great, he is the only Chelsea manager I have liked since Vialli :D

Yep. I completely forgot he managed the Juventus team from the ECL Semi-Final (aka Roy Keane's one man band performance) from 1999.

Comes off as incredibly professional, plays good football and he wins, Chelsea sacking him was such a bizarre move, still don't understand it.

Enjoying this thread. Thanks for joining in the fun andy and not steering it back on topic. On my iPad or I would post my popcorn gif. Lol

As for transfers, I wish Arsenal would hurry up and sign someone already. We should have just got Higuain IMO. Maybe not as good, but much cheaper and hassle free. Would have satisfied most fans.

no problem scoring the odd goal..

Quite a few players have scored goals against us in the past, doesn't mean they're fantastic. Modric is a good player, no doubt, but he doesn't really offer anything that Kagawa doesn't. Both good on the ball, both good passers, but Kagawa bags more goals.

He did indeed and if you remember that team he built, twas excellent.

I wasn't really comparing. But hey, yeah they could operate in the same team, Kagawa would be slightly upfield (bit of a free role). Modric would just sit in the middle and dictate.

It really was. Watched that Semi-Final again on Monday and they had a real mix of quality and determination. Some really dirty players in the back line, Zidane, Deschamps and Davids in midfield, they were excellent. Right at the peak of Italian superpower in Europe.

I still don't know why Ferguson brought Scholes on in that game knowing he was on a booking either. Bah.

Nedved as well wasn't it with Del Piero and Inzaghi up front  We had no right to win that game.

Because we were losing the midfield if I remember correctly which is no disgrace against them.

We should probably talk about transfers though :/

Edit - Spanish press now reporting that they think Messi's uncle the new manager wants to bring in his own players and will need cash to do so, meaning the Fabregas deal may well be on.

It's possible, but it brings the same worry I have with Fellaini, they don't really restrict themselves to CM and wander up which leaves a gap. There's a lack of players who can do what Carrick does and restrict themselves to a deeper role for the benefit of the team.

If Modric could maintain that, brilliant, that's my concern though. I know Fabregas would be more willing to do so. That said, there's no doubt a front line of RVP, Kagawa and Modric could lend to some seriously entertaining interchanges of play.

It wouldn't surprise me, Managers always want to put their stamp on things and everyone knows that Fabregas was one of Villanova's boys. Big wages out of the club, plus additional fees for more replacements and probably a CB makes sense, especially if they can get £35m (essentially £17m after Arsenal get a split.)

No club has infinite money, especially after spending over £50m on Neymar. They may decide that they won't actually miss Fabregas right now and it gives them a few years to either produce or purchase a replacement.

I'd love Fabregas at United, I think his style of play is ideal, it's the midground between Carrick and Kagawa, so it offers alternatives, plus he had a great partnership with RVP back in the day when they were competing for a Champions League place.
