Sorry, been in the garden for a bit. Here is my bet. It will undoubtedly lose now, but I kind of put the bet on hoping I was wrong and he would go to Arsenal or stay. Anything but Utd, so this is a bit of insurance as well as a decent bet.

Koscielny is a monster, he really came onto the scene against that game against Barca in the CL QF's a couple of seasons ago when he put in some stunning performances. Since then he has been getting better and better and its no surprise that Bayern are interested in him. Id hate to lose him but hes already gone on record saying that if Arsenal dont start winning silverware, he will be off

Him and Mert were tremendous last season as a pairing...should sell Verm and get another decent/fit CB in.

By who exactly??? the only time we were torn a new one was when we played Utd and lost 8-1 a couple of seasons ago.

The style of football a team play makes a huge difference to their defensive stats. If you are a possession football team like Arsenal you probably won't concede as many goals as a counter attacking team for example. Arsenal have a decent enough defence but I wouldn't say that you had the second best defence statistically because of how amazing they are. Barcelona have a shocking defence for the most part but don't concede as many as their weakness would suggest.

I would like to see Arsenal competing for the title again as I respect the way their team is managed and run (plus you sold us RvP!) and how Wenger manages to always get CL football regardless of the quality of the squad. Shame about Higuain but I'm sure you will pick up a striker by the time the season starts.

Gimp, if someone said to me "You pay me £250 and Fab wont join Man U, I'd stump up in a second. That's how strongly I feel about it. This way I pay the £250, or make myself £165. I strongly believe I have got some money coming.

If I could get into my VC account, I'd show you a bet I put on about 6 weeks ago. £10 at 8/1 for Higuain to join Napoli. Put it on when all the Cavani stuff was starting knowing that he would go and Rafa would need a replacement.

...i think for some odd reason Arsenal have forgotten how to buy decent/world class players in the transfer window now. All that penny pinching over the years have meant that when we do have the money, we are loathed to spend it lol.

**** it im half tempted to put £500 on Suarez going to Real instead of Arsenal

I remember the 2-2 draw at Anfield, if we weren't so bad in front of goal that night we would have spanked you 8-2 at least. Just because you got lucky/other team had an off night in respect of their shooting boots doesn't mean your defence weren't terrible at times. There were plenty of games like that last year, especially 1st half of the season, or does the late run you went on cover up all the deficiencies?
