*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

Managed to get hold of a copy of Mario bros Wii U.

Only played world one but loving it so far.

Also seen about Earthbound on the VC. Defo getting that too!

That Pikmin/W101 deal probably isn't as good as it sounds since you can already get Pikmin for £30/31 and it will probably be £39.99 on the eShop, the same for W101 you can get that for around £33 and it will be £39.99 on the eShop.

How isn't it? It's a few quid difference. They're giving you 30% off the RRP of a game on launch. The cost of games digitally is ridiculous, this is definitely a step in the right direction.

There's no pleasing some people.

As a "gamer" i couldn't care less about sales figures, as long as Nintendo release good games for the system thats fine.
Thats why i bought the console. The same reason i bought a PS3 and a Xbox360, to play their exclusive games.

Everyone knows Nintendo's third party support and sales haven't been the greatest. Who's that bored that they need to keep harping on about it?:D

Someone gets it.

Most popular publishers will start to question the viability of Wii U software sales. The way its going, the Wii U will be a niche console.

Its sad to see it going in that direction. Nintendo have the money to survive a failure IF the Wii U flops. Nintendo have great first party IPs, and great R+D facilities. But I do feel they are walking in the wrong direction, hardware wise.

Nintendo I think are already pretty niche. The Wii was a total blip and a massive departure from the other console hardware. Nintendo didn't compete sales-wise with the N64 and Gamecube which were comparable (or more powerful) hardware wise. I don't think they'll ever bother trying to compete in that way again.

/edit: I think a lot of people would have liked Nintendo to have made the Wii U almost as powerful as the next gen consoles, so we'd get the 3rd party ports. I don't want the 3rd party ports of CoD or AC4 or whatever. It's no loss to me to not have Fifa 14. However, the Wii U is expensive if we compare the PS4 launch cost when it's so apparently far behind specs wise. It's also, arguably, better for the gaming world to have 3 choices at a similar level. But... The Gamepad has been a massive success in my house, and is certainly the experience of my bro and sis who now both own a Wii U. Anecdotal I know, but I do actually love the Gamepad.

I can see why they aren't making another Zombi U title.

They released 7 games for the Wii U and only got 3% of their sales from them.

1) Assassin's Creed 3
2) ESPN Sports Connection
3) Just Dance 4
4) Rabbids Land
5) Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013
6) ZombiU
7) Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth

What's more interesting in those figures is the PC sales.

Only 3% behind each of the consoles, and PC gaming is supposed to be dead?

The amount of time invested in mediculously researching every aspect of the Wii U while not owning one and seeming not going to buy one is something i find very interesting (Read: Disturbing)
What is the goal for you in this exactly Broken Hope?
Some kind of fulfilment i imagine?

I was simply stating that it would still work out cheaper to buy both games physically even with the Nintendo deal and without the worry that if your console breaks you still have the games without having to jump through hoops contacting Nintendo because they can't or won't implement a proper account system.

Finally some decent software on the horizon for the Wii U. Wonderful 101 & Pikmin have taken me from being 80% meh to 90% want.

Asda and Amazon £199 deals dried up pretty quick - anyone else out there selling the Premium at this sort of price point?

I'd love to know if they sold many at the cheaper prices!

I dont get it...
Wii U sales are up and pikmin tops the japanese charts ..?
How can that be nothing other than good news?

It is pretty amusing that one good game coming out is considered good news.

I missed pikmin the first time around and it just doesn't appeal to me. Probably would be fun if I gave it a go though.

Wow that was early.
Do let us know what you think.

Got mine pre-ordered at the rainforest so no early delivery for me.

£24 too using flubit!

So far it's Pikmin, which is all good :) Looks nice at 1080p - the plants and fruit look massive - controls well with the pad (haven't tried wiimote yet), and is just as charming as ever. I still get a little choked up when they die. I'm just a few hours in and have seen a few new pikmin, which are cool, and am enjoying wondering about and collecting stuff. The WiiU gets a fair bit of bad press, but the simple fact is I wouldn't be playing this game without it. Wonderful 101, Mario Kart, Bayonetta 2, Mario ... :D
