Well looks like another depressing summer for Arsenal. And to make things worse we have smashed the goals in pre season. Making Wenger think...hmm we dont need anyone new...

How depressing after such a huge build up to the start of the summer.

Maybe next year Wenger, maybe you will actually spend some of the money instead of bidding for everyone under the sun and getting no one.

Really hope he has loads of deals lined up but I think we might as well look for a fight for forth again. Yes I think forth is doable, but thats as high as we could aim for with this team.

Thing is Wenger HAS to say we are good enough. Otherwise whats the point. The players will feel terrible knowing they aint good enough and we'd finish 15th rather than 4th.

I anticipate him buying cheaper players if he thinks they are good enough.

Ceasar, a CB a left mid and a striker.... all positions that need feeling.

Trouble is, he HAS put bids in for other players, so we now understand that he knows he has to strengthen the squad with some big players! He can't go back on it now and say 'actually we are good enough', well only because you didn't succeed in the transfer market, not because you beat some crappy Asian teams.
Frustrating indeed!!

He could have had, Cesar, Williams, Bernard and Higuain...

I would have been over the moon with that.

Instead we have some 20 year old injury prone french kid who looks 'ok'

But think of all the lovely money you are sitting on!

This does look like being a particularly disheartening window for Arsenal compared to usual. Not in the outcome but the promise of players that was given at the end of last year. I like Arsenal as a team and it would be great to see them competing for the title again.

because if you don't think levy is very good at his job of negotiating, how do you rate the blokes in charge of transfers at liverpool? and i didn't even need to mention andy carroll.

Current team in charge of transfers is doing great, Coutinho for 8 million, Sturridge for 12 - too early to judge this windows purchases.

If you mean the last guy that bought Carroll etc, then he was sacked a long time ago (you should thank us, for buying Carroll btw, you might have increased you 27million pound for him if we hadn't bought him)

This Bernard thing is strange, all the arsenal fans wetting their knickers over him have seen him how many times? Whilst his you-tube clips look good, and his cameos in the confed cup were good, all the South American football experts think its a good 2 years too early for him to move.

(I think he is one for the future, anything more than 10 million is a huge gamble though)

I don't see anyone wetting their knickers over Bernard. He looks like a potentially great buy and at £20m I think its worth a punt. In 2 years time they might ask £55m for him :D

Plus I think at this stage I think we would be excited with 'A' signing :p

Checked a couple of pages back, but couldn't see it mentioned. This "Left Back" Lorenzo Melgarejo, who Liverpool are supposedly in for now, actually made his name as a left winger with Independiente.... which explains why he hasnt been defensively great when utilised at left back.

I wonder if we're actually interested in him as a Winger and Cissokho is still the main LB target....

Oh and he likes number 25, which obviously explains why we had to get rid of Reina.

Real Madrid, the most prestigious club side in the world. Also happen to be the richest without a so-called sugar daddy bankrolling everything.

Although didn't they sell their training ground to the Spanish Government/Madrid City Council in a somewhat dubious deal and then get the use of another one for peanuts? It looks rather like a sugar daddy effect but without the individual as a daddy figure. Having the Spanish Government bankrolling you when you get into trouble isn't too bad a position to be in I wouldn't have thought - at least until recently when the whole country got into a bit of financial trouble...
