Manchester United set to bid for Cesc Fàbregas http://www.marca.com/2013/07/30/en/football/barcelona/1375199354.html

If true, hopefully it'll be a proper bid of, at the very least, £40m.

LOL first of all its from marca, who are everything against Barca:p.

Secondly of all, you lot are like rabid dogs with this whole Fabregas transfer:p...how many times will it take Barca to say no before you finally get the message?? lol...its quite embarrassing to see Utd stoop to this level, they never were like this with Fergie in charge :/

Wow... have you never seen a transfer happen before? They always say the same things in public. I think there is, or has been, more happening in private.

Of course i know how transfers work, i think you guys are just letting yourselves in for a massive disappointment because i and many others dont think Fabregas will be coming to Utd especially if Arsenal have anything to do with it..or did that conveniently fly over your head??:p

But lets see what happens, it will be interesting if Bale goes to Real and Fabregas goes to Utd.

So what are you talking about "stooping to a level" for then?! All we've done is make 2 bids, what's wrong with that?

Sure the target seems unattainable on the outside, but that's not even half the story. I don't think Arsenal would have anything much to do with it either, really.

He's an Arsenal fan, of course he doesn't know how transfers work

:p

3 times. It will take 3 answers of no before we stop believing!

When was the last time United signed a player like Cesc. RvP was completely different as he wanted to leave, last year of contract and he was 28. Before that you have to go back to..... nope I can't think of a single signing that would be of the magnitude Fabregas is.

As you can see, the transfer game is changing and managers are starting to be a little more open about their dealings. Guardiola has just come out to say that he doesn't want David Luiz. Where did that come from... rumours.

I don't care about how unlikely we are to get Cesc. Like most United fans I think I am more concerned that we are getting towards the business end of the window and we have signed no one and have not been linked to anyone else of note. I don't think it reflects badly on Moyes at all beyond the time wasted.

I reckon I might have sussed it. Neither Fabregas or Barca want to part ways but United are just being sneaky. Fabregas is wondering why United keep making new offers if the club have said "absolutely not" and the club is wondering why United keep coming back if Cesc has given no indication he wants to leave.

Both parties are going to think the other one doesn't want them to stay and we get Fabregas for a snip at £36m. Deal.

I think you're spot on, better get my 'Fabregas 4' shirt ordered. Unlucky Phil Jones.

If they seriously want him and going by what Moyes has been saying, then yes they do. They ought to offer in the region of £40-45m.

Compare two of the richest clubs in the world, Real Madrid going by a Forbes list is #1 and Man Utd #2. Yet when it comes to transfers, United are ridiculously stingy while RM spend like crazy if they want the best.

United love talking about the sponsorship deals they have, yet when it comes to transfers they love penny pinching.

Did they not do the same last year with Hazard? Not wanting to pay the agent a certain fee.

That's the difference between Barca, Bayern & Real, they don't half mess around when they want someone.

Agreed. We shouldn't be batting an eyelid at the idea of paying £45/50m for Fabregas.

Dont the Glazers have to pay about £50-60 million a year in interest frim the original loan they got to buy United. That is probably money that would have been spent on transfers.
