**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

So what I said is pretty much right :p they made a mistake by going for a gpu that is a third less powerful than the ps4s and now tthey've realised this, it's too late.

They're playing the numbers game, people will see 853mhz vs 800mhz - Joe blogs will think its faster etc.

I doubt most people will really care. They've found they can safely get a bit of extra performance out of the part they're selected, so they're doing it. It's not the first time anything like this has happened.

Joe blogs will think it's awesome but people who actually know about tech and how little it will effect performance won't be overly fussed by the slight upgrade.

If it's spouted around they will be. Don't forget kids and the magazines they buy, official xbox websites they view saying how awesome the difference is and they'll believe it and pass it on to there friends etc..

All the people I know at work that game only have eyes for the Xbox One. They want FIFA, CoD and Gears with new shiny gfx and that's all that they care about.

Mhz? What's that?

Joe Blogs won't even know anything has changed.

Have things gotten so sad with the XB1 bashing that an overclockers forum feels the need to use overclocking as ammunition?

People at my work place actually know about computers and are all leaning towards the PS4. Mainly due tto the extra power/headset in box and because they can still sell games on. I personally was only interested in the ps4 after seeing e3 but I'm coming round now and thinking to get both.

You will be able to use current headsets via an adaptor for the X1.

More good news. I'd be happy to pay £10-20 to use my Turtle Beach headset.

Oh FFS MS! That was one of my main reasons for sticking to PS4. Fair play to MS making the XBOne more and more viable.

Mhz? What's that?

It's short for 'Mmmmm Heinz' usually said in relation to Tomato ketchup or Baked Beans.

How is it XB1 bashing? Its just a potential marketing plus that MS could well use on basic / vague comparisons. Some people do think more numbers the better.

Knowing about computers and knowing about console architecture are not the same thing. I know about computers and am getting an xbox. I prefer the games.

Yes Joe blogs will. Joe blogs as in people who know basics about consoles but not the tech minded folks. Did you think I was talking about pensioners or something? I'm not bashing the console, just find it funny about how they are going on about this awesome driver and Overclock as if it's going to really make a difference.

It's always funny when a new console is being released because people just start bumming one console and can't take anything being said about it.

53Mhz = extra ~4fps on a previously 60fps game (assuming 1:1 correlation)

That's enough for a few more special effects, better lighting model, higher res shadows etc. to be squeezed in.

End of the day it's all good for the longevity of the device.

 When console architecture is so close to PC then you really know about them both or you don't. Consoles are about much more than stats, so you could know everything there is to know about PC's and still get an xbox.

But that's nothing to do with what I'm saying. Their are people out there who want the better console and believe anything they read. Not everybody bases what console they're getting on the games it has. Put yourself in a kids shoes, or a parents shoes who's kid has said 'O mummy the xbox has had an upgrade!'

"Going on" about it? They've just released details of what's happening in the internal BETA programme, plus what updates developers have had.

From what I can see, this is news on a few tech websites (I've only seen it on Engadget so far) - not BBC breaking headlines!
