Can I just confirm that if I'm to replace my motherboard & CPU without re-installing Windows, the best method would be to remove the CPU & Motherboard drivers from device manager, install the new components & boot up?

I've not ever tested this, but I'm sure in THEORY, it should work right?

I'm upgrading from a Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3, AMD FX-6100 to an Intel 2500k & AsRock Extreme 7 Gen 3.

A little while back, 8 pack did a quick run down in a post but I cant remember when, a member was in a similar issue to your self.

But remember to de-activate ITunes (if you use this) and any other software which may have issues.

Itunes is not registered to an account where we download anything, but great advise non the same, will keep that in mind.

No probs, let us know how you get on!! :D

I will, thanks!

I'm stoked about getting rid of the 6100, it just doesn't cut it anymore. BF3 is hitting 100% on CPU & G/Card, which is not efficient at all. The 2500k should completely trash it.

While I remember, where is your thread regrading the Thermal Compounds? I unfortunately don't have any for when it arrives and cannot find it.

Is it a sticky?
