Eid Mubarak!

I think Saudi will almost certainly be doing Eid tomorrow, irrespective of any moon sighting and as per usual, half the UK will follow Saudihows, it will be physically impossible to sigK or anywhere near the UK. I think Eid will be on Friday but we'll wait and see.

I think the general concensus is that if the moon is sighted in cape town then yes KSA will do eid on thursday. I have no problems with that to be fair. Its permissable to take the word of pious person according to what i have read. Right or wrong the moon has to be sighted by eye and no be calculated which makes me wonder why many mosques have already announced eid for friday.

Eid Mubarak my fellow muzzies:D...have a good one and enjoy. This year was tough i have to admit but i feel much better for it now.

You are correct it has to be sighted by eye, I don't think anyone really disputes that so if it is sighted in Cape Town tonight as you say then absolutely nothing wrong with KSA celebrating Eid on Thursday. If the moon isn't sighted this evening then Eid has to be on Friday. You keep 29 fasts and check for the moon, if the moon isn't sighted you keep 30 fasts and do Eid the next day. You never do 31 fasts.

The worrying thing is when Saudi claims they have seen the moon yet scientifically it appears impossible? There are many mosques here in Manchester which are funded by Saudi and always do Eid with them, same story every year. There is no ruling in Islam which says follow Saudi Arabia.

It will be smaller this year (fewer people this year) but still substantial enough! Kebabs, fry-ups, samosas with various fillings, chicken, stuffed parathas for breakfast as well as normal breakfast, meat, fish and then there's everything else when you go visit people :D

Awsome..!

I bloody love it.. :D :D

Seems the moon is out already

Absolutely. But there also mosques which will follow what the their maulvis and pir saabs tell them no matter what the truth is and will oppose the saudis purely out of spite. The saudis are far from perfect but they right the majority of time so I see no issue if people want to follow them. Like I say how is it that certain mosques announced yesterday that eid was definately on friday.

Eid Mubarak!! Congrats to all who fasted, Ive lost about 5kg in weight, and have eaten sensibly at iftaar time!

Well the majority of mosques have announced Eid for tomorrow and sizeable chunk have announced for Friday, sadly the Muslim Ummah will now start slinging mud at each other claiming they are the righteous and the others are spawn of satan/usa/uk etc etc!

So if I wanted to send my best wishes to someone for Eid, i've no idea what day to send it? Awesome.
