Seems like a good idea to me if it's causing tension with the locals. If I ever find myself in the unfortunate position of seeking asylum in another country then I'd be extremely grateful to my hosts as they processed my application. I would accept that essentially as a beggar, I wouldn't be expecting full access to the range of public services on offer to nationals of that country. When I think about what Syrian refugees are having to put up with in camps in Turkey and Jordan, it's just awful - there's no question that any of these are "bogus asylum seekers".
Personally I think it's time for the current international guidelines on refugees and asylum seekers to be revisited to cope with the realities of the 21st century.
