What other companys can I get package holidays from apart from Thomson and Thomas cook, it needs to be package as ive never been abroad as an adult myself so cant be doing with booking flights , hotels & airport transfers separate.

Im trying to find some were around the spain area that would suit 2 adults & 3children. All inclusive or self catering doesn't matter but if self catering im only looking at £1300 - £1500. The upside with Thomson is 2 free child places and I think Thomas cook do 2 free child places aswell.

ideas welcome on were else to look :D:D oh ye, its for around the begging of may next year

Make sure you pack flip flops or else what are you going to do when you get to the destination and have to tie your shoelaces?

It's a lot more simple to use a package holiday so why try and mess about if I don't have to? I wouldn't want to arrive at palma airport to realise ive made a ****-up and then have no transfer to the hotel

no dout my original response would have you moaning / me banned so lets stick to the above ;)

He wears Velcro.

I'm not an abroadsy person, only been away once and turn down holidays. We had no transfers and they were expensive, so we got several busses, never again.

Olympic holidays is one.

Last three holidays have been one with Olympic and then two with Thomson. All of them were very good and trouble free.

We've just booked an all inclusive holiday to the Canaries with First Choice and have done a package holiday with them about 10 years ago to Cyprus.

You can find packages on sites like teletextholidays, which use the likes of Thompson, Thomas Cook etc.

I've used Direct Holidays and Low Cost in the past. The're ok. Decently priced and have a fairly good reputation. The later is really low end though so don't expect too much. Thomas Cook and Thompson may get a few exclusives but the rest are pretty much the same. It's just a cast of trawling through getting where you want and the right price.

I normally go for villas now days. Taxis can be arranged before you go and they greet your from the plane. It's always a bit worrying when they are scheduled to pick you up on return. A few years ago, we were waiting for 30 minutes in the wrong place.

direct looks EXACTLY like Thomas cook website

Never been on a packaged holiday myself and the whole idea of a "package" holiday don't make sense to me, especially ones in a resort.

Look on skyscanner/Expedia for flights, limit search with a time slot of your choice, pick an airline that you like, a route that you like and a price that you like. Pick flights that arives mid afternoon ish, and leave late so you get an evening there in the first day and the whole day on the last day to enjoy. I dislike flight times where you arrive at night and then leave in the morning, you are basically wasting an entire day on holiday. Obviously unless you want your arrival time back in the UK in a reasonable hour, and not 3am in Healthrow which is fair enough, but all the more reason to pick your own flights to suit your needs.

Look on trip advisor for hotels in the area, pick the ones that you like the look of, at a location that you like. Check the reviews, ignore the extremes and the unreasonable ones such as ones that gives it 1/5 star because they moan about the bathroom floor is wet, when the website clearly states it has a "wetroom" for a bathroom. Look on the averages, pay attention to user comments in the past 6 months (this season in particular) in case they changed management from last year.

Go to Avis and book your car, or call up hotel to arrange for transfer, or simply get a taxi when you arrive. You are landing in an airport, there's bound to be taxi's around.

Now enjoy your stay.

Book the whole thing through cash back websites to save more money. The whole thing is tailored to your schedule, your specifics. There is nothing more complicated than that.

Super organised airport transfers with Thompson or whoever are actually really good. When I went to Majorca a while ago the hotel was an hour away and a taxi would have been pretty expensive. The holiday was £300 for a week all inclusive so pretty good value compared to booking everything separately.

I booked my holiday with Thomson when I went to Greece and I think they were great as far as package holidays go, hadn't done a package holiday before using them, but they worked out to be the cheapest deal with the most included. Flights were all on time, had transfers included which saved us a lot of money, went on a flexi half board deal which meant we could choose between having lunch or dinner which was a good idea. Mostly had breakfast and early lunch in the hotel before going off and doing our own thing and going out for dinner. The biggest reason for me, to go on a package holiday has to actually be the transfers that are included, unless you can somehow pre book a taxi or form of transport to your hotel, depending on how far away it is, can cost a lot of money, especially as most hotels you would be looking at staying in are usually 1-2 hours away.

I love package holidays

Phone up the travel agent, tell them where you want to go, say you want all inclusive, be shocked at the price and tell them you are looking elsewhere

wait 10 mins

receive phone call saying they can give you a free upgrade from self catering to all inclusive

:D

I always book everything myself..flights..hotel..transport etc etc...its part of the fun trying to find the best deal, reading the hotel reviews, putting everything together like a puzzle, and then seeing how it all works out. :)

I make sure I go on 3-4 holidays a year (some are just a weekend break) and have never even thought about using a 'package' holiday.
