This is a pretty standard tactic used by retailers since the dawn of time. The good old bait and switch

Lure people in with cheap deals that don't actually exist, or only existed in very limited numbers. "Sorry guv, they sold out real quick like, how about this more expensive alternative".
It really does work much better when the punters have to travel a fair distance to reach the store.

Why have you picked on the same one? Look its preorder on scam and will never be back in stock, i rang then weeks ago and they said they would remove it from the website.
I've used them on ocassion and have had an issue with the majority of orders I placed.
Sitting as "order processing" for days on end until I ring tham and ask what't the problem. "Oh, that's out of stock sir".
