Right guys the missus is ready for a contract phone as she is loosing her work one.

Can anyone recommend the cheapest deal out there. Cheapest I've seen is free phone at £37 a month (24 months) with Unlimited texts and minutes and 1GB of data.

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Matt

Three have you beat on that. 16GB iPhone 5, 500 mins, 5000 texts, unlimited data. £29 per month, £29 for the phone.

What are you after? Since I can make the monthly cost a lot lower if you buy the phone from an Apple store up front :). Do you want the cheapest contract with a free handset or are you happy to pay a bit for the phone?

You can probably get some crazy deal if you go through some cash back, quidco type deal but I don't know what's out there.

I got the black 16gb iphone 5 on vodafone with unlimited mins, texts and 1gb data + 2gb data with BT wifi for £31.45 per month including VAT. Phone was free also. Pays to go into the store and haggle.

Rule of thumb: Three generally have good deals but atrocious signal.

I was with them for 2 years with average of 3 bar signal in my home, then one day it just went to no service, guess they lost the mast they were piggy backing off of. Their prices can be attractive though.

Its nearly always cheaper to buy the phone outright. Fair enough the cost for the handset is high but you can get very cheap 30 day or 12 month sim only contracts.

The contract I think you're (the OP) is referring to is the vodafone one:

£37pm
24 months
£54 for the phone

That works out to £888 for the contract plus the cost of the handset = £942

If you bought the phone outright:

£529 new from Apple (could get it cheaper if you don't mind second hand)
Cheapest Voda sim only contract is £9 for 12 months = £81

£529 + (81x2) = £691

Its worth pointing out the £9 contract gets you 300 minutes 500 texts 250MB mobile internet & 750MB BT Wifi

If you got a £21 sim only for 12 months...well you can work it out :) but it is more expensive albeit not by much (£1033 over 24 months)

£12.50 with Tesco (o2 with good customer service) - 500mins, 5000 text, 1gb data + buy the phone outright or get a cheaper 2nd hand one that's still got warranty

Not my experience (although I do live in London).

Signal strength as good as o2, data speeds brilliant on iP5 (often better than missus' EE LTE), as they have DC-HSDPA.

£12.90 / month, unlimited data. Unbeatable.

This does seem to depend on where you live...

In my case, I have recently tried o2, vodafone and EE. Only EE and Three give me a good signal, along with decent data speeds.

can you/she not wait less than a month for the new one to be announced ?

neer had a problem with three. vast improvement over the ever lying vodafone
