So why still put them in the box lol? Either way i think what ever they change which more things will do i.e potential price change its going to be too late, pre orders are pretty much sold out, people who gone for the PS4 and now may want a Xbox wouldnt get a pre-order in more than likely, that said i still feel they need to change/do more.

Cause nearly all/ most are going to have it connected, simple as that, all the people screaming they arnt going to use it is a tiny minority, despite what people may like to think.
I cant for the life of me see the overall user base leaving such a device in the box when they have just spent £430 on it.
Plus if its to be taken seriously the best way is to tell Developers EVERYONE that owns an XO has the device.

Pretty sure the Kinect will only register to your voice if you are the one logged in? So ambient sounds or people talking in the room won't be picked up. That's the way I understood it, anyway.
Because family members never sound like each other.
IF your paying for it and its in the box yes, but if its not mandatory anymore why not release the console for cheaper without it, just like MOST want.
I think it wouldn't need to work based on sound of the voice. The Kinect has the ability to see who is facing the screen and who out of those people is holding a controller and which controller they are holding. It should be, using that data, be able to work out which person is actually gaming and who's commands to respond to.
That is a guess though.

They are putting it in with the console sales so they can turn around to every developer on their platform and say no matter the game you are making Kiect features will be available to all users on their system.
For me the best uses i've seen for Kinect 2.0 are the game switching and dashboard features.
Hopefully developers use it in ways that encourage people to play with Kinect 2.0 enabled, to enhance the gameplay.

Because the whole point is that everyone has one, so developers will feel like it's worth investing the time to develop features for it.
Come on, dont play stupid, you and i both know the majority of gamers wont use/want kinnect, selling seperately meaning those who do want the product can go and buy it, like the PS eye. That works wonders.
Yes, i clearly understood this but now there saying its not mandatory anymore, why be so contradictory. Should be just one or the other, they either push kinnect or fold on it.

I must admit to buying the first kinect device as I was curious as to its uses, after about a month it went back in the box and is stored next to the other peripherals that no longer get used such as plastic guitars/drums and things.
I suppose I should have sold it, just never got around to it.

Because MS have stated many times that the Kinect is an integral part of the system. They are allowing people to turn it off or disconnect it so that the paranoid nut jobs can be certain it's not watching them fap while eating quavers or something.
I wouldnt have bought a kinect but im not unhappy about it being in the box, a little extra money on the system sure but its there for when i need it, skype etc.
I got the first xbox vision cam for the 360 so i could stick my face on my chr on Rainbow 6 and put up with people playing strip Uno on live (some things you can never forget seeing even with mind bleach). I got it because it was free in effect (came with 1 years live). Yes i have used it a few times, no it wasnt a big deal to me.
The tin foil hat mob are just crazy, but thats always been the case, i hope none of them have mobile phones or laptops with webcams or mics built in.
If the NSA or microsoft really want to watch me watching MOTD in my boxers eating a bacon sandwich on a saturday night then by all means fill your boots.

They want to encourage developers to support it but I suspect most won't in the end anyway as things like Kinect are really a niche market.

You're clearly missing the point. If developers know every Xbox owner has a Kinect, they will be more willing to develop gameplay features using it. If not many people have it, that won't happen.

It's not a niche market if every Xbox owner has one.
Ill give it a year and they'll realise its lack of usage and devs wont bother with it anymore. I dont see the enjoyment in shouting stuff to a camera to reload for you, especially how 9/10 people go in party chat and wouldnt want everyone screaming "Reload" etc. The other alternative is using it for more active games like Kinnect Sports, again a very niche market which never lasts long.
