Can i kill me neighbours dog if it attacks me or my family

It was mentioned to be by an Armed Response officer that apparently they rarely rehome Police dogs but shoot them due to their 'occupation' after retirement. However, knowing him a bit better since then, I'm a bit dubious to whether he's pulling my leg.

Sounds like leg pulling to me, from everything I've heard they generally stay with the dog handler as a family pet.

There's a retired officer near me, I often see him over the local field with his GSD and spaniel.

His argument was when dog handlers have families, they often don't want to take the risk around young children and if the handler doesn't rehome then there isn't a place for them.

Cut a glory hole in the fence. Post back with results.

Guys seriously, man up. Its an animal. I'd bust its head open before it even got a chance to bite me...... whippet, chihuahua, Alsatian, its all the same.

Sounds like you need to sort the humans first. I'm a dog person, my aunty/uncle/cousins have had 3 Alsatian's now. Hard as nails, even when playing

I throw a stick for it and it wouldn't let go, just playing I swung it around jaw still attached and dog spinning around... it still won the stick but gave it up when I went inside so he could 'play' again. Another time I threw a stick (twig) and it went behind a table leg, it couldn't get to it so it chomped the table leg in half!

Personally I wouldn't want to mess with a defensive Alsatian - Powerful and smart (this one is probably imitating its scum owners)

These would have destroyed the guy throwing bricks at them if the owner had not intervened

I love that video.

I don't know if I'd have joined in with the dogs if it was me he was throwing bricks at.
Ok, I probably would've got them off him, but the temptation... Oh lawd.

Sigh!

Do you really want to cause some fun and HAVOC for the owners?

Get some chocolate laxative, throw in the garden. Get the dog to eat it all, the dog will **** all over the place and in their house! WIN

From the little information you've been able to give (bit hard to guess if the fence is totally in the way!) it sounds like the dog is more interested than anything and is giving you a warning bark not to get too close.

That idea would be reinforced if the dog stops when you move away from the fence - you are away from it's territory and pack so it doesn't need to worry so much.

You haven't mentioned the type of bark it does but I'm guessing it will be something like this (took a while to find!):

If it is like that, it's not an aggressive, attacking bark but just a warning.

I think your best bet would be to go and have a chat with your neighbours, not to complain about the noise but take a different approach.

Say the dog is barking everytime you walk past the fence and it's probably bugging them as well as you and stressing the dog and would it be possible to meet the dog so maybe it'll see you as a friend and not bark?

Of course this really does depend on the type of people you are dealing with but if they are reasonable and you can meet the dog in a controlled way, away from it's own territory and have some sausage to hand you might be able to defuse the situation in the nicest possible way and make a furry friend that won't bark as it won't see you as a threat.

Are you actually a dog? :o

Get a dog?

On that story about the full honours for the Police Dog... did you see how many Police dog deaths that had been this year? wow! (86)
