So if I was to sell the Evo..

i have a problem with him as i offer a different opinion ?

this guy has a evo which is as fast as porsche a m3 on roads. that's all im trying to say. i pointed out the track stuff as well as with the same weight tyres and a good driver you talking maybe a second of difference.

so highlighting again there is no need to go chasing a expensive dream if he already has something that is as fast or good in both ways.

as pointed out he sounds like hes not to happy with anything he has. there is nothing wrong with that but its a very expensive game to play. he has a great car maybe just tweak it to how you like.

funny thing was guy who posted after me had the exact same m3 as gibbo ! and sold it to get a evo ! he does racing ;) the evo is quicker !

so just cause i disagree don't please get annoyed about it. also i helped build a track m3 with one of my relatives three years ago from shell up ! :D gotta love internet people. assumptions assumptions.

to the op enjoy your car save your cash.

So this guy had my M3? Really, the guy I purchased it from did not have an EVO, he did have a very nice Dodge Viper however. :D

A stock M3 is nothing like a sorted track M3 or a CSL, not even closely, they are like night and day in difference. If he stripped his M3 to make it track prepared (one would assume he did this if he races like you say) and was still slower than 1:20 laps, but then got an EVO and was able to do 1:20's, maybe the issue was the driver, he might need tuition, I did as do most people to get the best from a car. The EVO is just easier to drive fast, that's a fact anyone will tell you and is also a reason why some people get quickly bored because its not always about being able to go quick easily.

I just find it odd how you say he sold the M3 to get an EVO because he does racing and the EVO is quicker. Yet you yourself said his fastest lap around Donnington is 1:20 on slicks with 400BHP, whereas even a stock CSL which is 360BHP is quicker than that on its factory road legal tyres. So if your mate goes racing, did he not prep the M3 for racing or did he just not have the talent to manage a RWD car? Something aint adding up here!

Of course on the road an EVO FQ or a sorted Scoob are hugely capable road cars, no one has argued this point or will, they are as quick as far more expensive machinery from the likes of Porsche, BMW like you say.

Just to add, that was not tongue in cheek.. I'm yet to drive at Donny, so would no doubt be a lot slow than you guys. :)

On a track I am waiting to see a fast EVO or Scooby, eventually Kosta will come along and show us all up and how its done, the invite is always there. :D

Your always invited m8 and I'd love to go out with you because your a very good driver! :)
Just be warned once you do Donny it will hook you, I've driven Donny, Oulton, Bedford, Silverstone, Goodwood and Donny is the one I love the most, then Oulton.

NEVER go full retard man...

I don't really see how a 370Z is less premium than an Evo.

It isn't, a 370z is more premium than an EVO, EVO interiors are shocking, the 370z is delicious.

I think he was comparing the 370z to the German equivalents with that comment. Although I'm not sure I would agree. Maybe "a perceived premium" ;)

Definitely not a CS, it's hardly any different from a normal M3 at half the price. Only difference is the M track mode and the CSL steering rack.

Its slightly more than tha but point taken.

CSL's Bigger Brakes
CSL Wheels (fronts are half inch thinner than CSL one, rears identical)
CSL Steering Rack (quicker than standard)
M Track Mode (you can enable this on 2003 facelift standard M3's though using NCSExpert software and USB cable)
Suede Steering Wheel
Suede Handbrake
You don't get cruise control

Wow what a thread I've started. :) thanks for all comment and suggestions. Taking Evo to the track and I'll see how I feel.

honestly mate, tracking your car will be the best thing you do, as long as you dont have a crash lol.

Just enjoy it for longer I have swapped cars like women before and I only end up regretting it later and wished I'd held onto them longer! The cars not the women lol.

Not sure how good a representation of real lap times this is, but Bedford Autodrome laps courtesy of EVO:

Ah thanks, not sure I agree, but I'll be sure to get over once I've finished my sprint stuff this year.

Seems quite normal to me m8. Unfortunately they don't seem to have a time for a CSL or the 997 GT3's.

Trackdays there is the full layout, which take nearly twice as long, here is Shimmy in his CSL who reckons he is very quick round there:-

You ever driven the same layout, if so what kind of time you got?
