**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

You jumped on it and told me to chill out. I thought my reply was justified. If you had no issues with the link, that's fine. We'll leave it there.

the link didnt bother me a bit, the reason i said chill out to you because you did seem cranky in both your first replies concerning the neogaf thread, and it felt like you were making me out to be a trouble starter, the fact that you called it "my" rumour when it clearly wasnt said a lot tbh.

im buying ps4 but that doesnt mean i hate x1, before either console was announced my heart was set on the new xbox mainly due to less lag and better graphics that i experienced on 360, i have ps3 too. changed my mind now because of the way they behaved and ps4 being better hardware wise which will hopefully mean having the edge graphics wise.

hopefully this thing is just a big misunderstanding and all is good :)

Bets on the extra port? Looks like display port or USB-B. Hopefully it's display port as they couldn't get HDMI 2.0 in time, I don't wanna have to rebuy the console half way through it's lifecycle to get the outputs it should have in the first place (PS3 DTS-MA bitstream I'm looking at you.)

Looks like a usb-B to me. surely thats for the debugging of indie games on the console so they dont need dev kits?

While there was speculation that Microsoft was delaying the Xbox One launches in those countries due to shipment and supply issues , Microsoft's Xbox director of marketing Albert Penello told fans on the NeoGAF message board that was not the case. He stated:

"Launch volumes are not really an issue. This was simply a software issue in terms of getting local language and voice support in the dash. It's pretty straightforward, but disappointing I know for people who are missing launch."

Well I did read Swiss was a hard language to support - makes sense :)

EDIT: In other news DLC being region-free is definitely a good thing...

ps3ud0

I just referred to it as your rumour as you posted the link to it. I didn't mean you specifically :)

Ooh, that's good to know. I have a feeling I'll be importing a game or two from the US (likely a baseball game if they release one), so it's good to know I can get any future DLC for it if there's available.

Looks nice to me too. My amp is about ten times bigger than that so it looks tiny to me! From that vid I posted it looks to be about 2-3cm wider (taller?) than the 360.

I've yet to see a quiet/cool PS3. The PS4 looks to be no different.

The Xbox One has a huge fan and heatsink with plenty of cooling vents and lots of space inside. The PS4 has tiny vents with all parts crammed into a smaller package. It will have to use 1 or more blower fan (laptop style) to make that work. Those are never quiet.

You can't have seen many PS3s then because my 320GB Slim is extremely quiet and my old 40GB one wasn't particularly loud either, although the old ones were known for getting louder as they got older.

Blower fans certainly are quiet, depending on what speed they're running at of course.

In any case, I don't think there's any danger of either of them being noisy. Both Sony and MS know that if they want people to use these things as media/TV systems rather than just for games, they need to be quiet and unobtrusive.

Really? I think it looks quite nice. Not as curvy or sleek as the PS4 perhaps, but I think it'll look really nice under my TV.
I agree, although I tend to think that anyone with a house so small that the size of a console under their TV brings any kind of concerns probably has more things to worry about. OMG my XBOX One is 4cm wider than my XBOX 360, I'll have to remove the couch from the room and insist only 2 people at a time come in! :) :D

On the bright side the XO has been described as "whisper quiet" and to all intents and purposes almost silent even in game which I guess is a function of having plenty of ventilation and large fans. It'll be interesting to see how PS4 does, if the GPU is more powerful I'd have expected a reasonable amount of heat under load so I can only imagine there's a lot of very clever cooling stuff going on to fit it into a case that small without high speed fans generating a lot of noise.

Have you seen a PS3 Slim? Mine is damn near silent and has yet to overheat.

dont let the big roomy space inside fool you, i got into cooling with my pc, researched the best cases and realised that a big roomy case will get just as hot as any other case if air isnt expelled correctly. best to channel the air flow, get it in and out. always keep the air new and not old as old air just lingers and gets hot.

Yeah, I'll be surprised if the PS4 is overly noisy. It may not be as quiet as the Xbox One is reported to be, but let's be honest, when you're playing games at any decent volume level I'd be amazed if you could hear either console.
