**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Got tired of sitting on the fence. Just ordered my Day-one One + Battlefield 4 + extra controller with play n charge kit. £439 in total :D

just been checking out some more x1 pics and it looks like theres vents all over, top sides and back, this would be like similar to having your case door off, expelling air is less of a concern as its not sealed off like the ps4 is. a extreme example would be having a pc on a work bench where no fans are required to expel air. x1 does seem like it will be the quieter if the two.

edit. just had another good look at that engineering sample and it does seemed more sealed in than i thought, most of the board has a metallic wall running round it with holes in the sides only.

in two minds about which one will be most quiet now as the fact that ps4 is so sealed off it keeps the noise inside. well we'll find out soon

Far from it, the Xbox One is larger than a launch 360, the PS4 is smaller than a PS3 Slim.

The launch 360 wasn't that big so it will be larger.

When you look at the internals for the Xbox One it uses the 360S design which people class the S as slim but it has more depth then launch 360.

I think you need to look at proper pictures regarding PS4 because mostly all the comparisons I keep seeing put it up again the launch (George foreman grill) PS3 with the odd few again PS3 Slim and it is about same size (PS3 has curved bits which makes it appear larger PS4 is rectangle).

I have some games pre-ordered but I think I may cancel them and go all digital next-gen. I just hope the digital prices are reasonable. Really they should be cheaper than retail.

My advice, for what it's worth, would be to keep your pre-orders in until the prices of the digital games are announced. I'm like you and would rather get digital if I can, but I'm happy to get the disc based games if they're a fair bit cheaper. I doubt any of the games would sell out, but you'd be rather peeved if you cancelled your pre-orders and then couldn't find the game on release because the digital version is too expensive and the physical versions have sold out.

I suspect the prices will be around the same as retail copies at launch, but the retail prices will inevitably fall as they always do while the download prices will stay where they are.

That's what MS really have to sort out if they want digital to take off. Reduce the price over time, like retail shops do, and I'll be much more likely to go fully digital. If they don't, I don't think digital will take off the way they want it do.

Not just MS, but Sony and all the publishers too. There's very little hope of competitive pricing ever arriving for download copies unless stores/online retailers are able to start selling codes for those games ala GMG who sell Steam/Origin codes. If there's anywhere you'd expect to see competitive pricing first it's on PC games, but you only have to look at Steam, Origin, Uplay etc to see that they're all significantly more expensive than retail.

I just don't see it happening any time soon. These companies are all trying to push people into digital distribution but they're frustratingly stubborn when it comes to the single obvious obstacle; price. But then, they also can't afford to undermine their physical retail partners.
