Absolutely, the moment that £40,000,001 bid failed we should have binned the whole idea. Just not worth trying spending 3x our record transfer on someone with that much baggage, he could easily pull the same stunts at Arsenal.

Missed the boat on Darren Bent now as well so with the season kicking off today options are looking very limited. I actually think a CB should be the priority now what with all the players leaving or on loan and the injury to Vermaelen.

Yas while some objected plenty were creaming themselves over the thought and goading Liverpool fans at the same time, particularly that **** hole r/gunners on reddit

In some ways it would be silly not to really - if you've already committed to spending 40 million plus a minimum of 20-odd million on wages (100k a week, 4yr contract) so an extra 10 million to seal the deal isn't really that big a deal.

£50m bid will be rejected too by Rodgers. Suarez is worth more than that.

I don't think Bale will leave this season but he won't be renewing his contract anytime soon and RM seem to have quietened down after Ronaldo signed a new contract. He'll probably end up going to United in 2 years.

Wow Peter Risdale posts on the forums :p;)

I think it would be a big deal considering Arsenals previous transfer spendings, if it was Chelsea or City I could understand why they would just go **** it and hand over 10m more but Arsenal are not in the same position and need so much money spent across the squad that just lobbing another 10 million at a known issue like Suarez just doesn't make sense to me atleast :)

And its that sort of thinking from your manager that will have the "fans" booing the team 1st home game at half time.

And its that sort of thinking that makes the game quite sad where people think a team can not improve if they stick together.

Some teams have invested in a lot of players but that doesnt mean that they are going to gel as a team or hit the floor running.

I agree we are in a better position this year as its a young team and they have all got one more year of experience which improves them as a team.

However, we still need more players to cover the injuries that we are going to suffer over the period of the year. We are already talking about players playing out of position to cover injuries.

Either way, this is the team we are starting with so until the end of Aug we will be running on bare bones, not the way I would have planned it, hopefully we have a few youngsters that take this opportunity to make themselves a name.

As Arsenal fans we arent as surprised with no signings. Keeping the same team for the first time in about four years is a plus for us :p

So Man U have improved have they? If we hadn't signed anyone we would have improved? Would we **** and you would be laughing to yourselves if we claimed we had improved too.

Never said anything about Utd did I? If you keep Rooney and he returns to fitness and wants to play for you then yes.

The Arsenal team have a core of young players who will improve and develope together. I am not saying that they will be 50% better this year. But compared to last year then yes Arsenal will have improved. We still need one more player in each position to be happy.

Whether that improvement is good enough to take forth spot again then who knows. Certainly dont think we have the squad to compete for the title unless we have a lot of luck with fitness. And we are already hit hard before we kick off so that isnt going to happen.

A fitter Anderson a year more experienced cleverly jones and smelling plus zaha all adds up. We should be better than last season really!

Arsenal will do **** all for the rest of the window and still finish comfortably above us =/

Yep, that is very likely :D

But we need to sign a few players and try and challenge for the title. We need to win a trophy soon... FA Cup would be nice.

In my opinion we should try and sign a world class player and build on that now that we have cash. That will be the only way to attract more players next year if no trophies are won again (likely result). With all the deadwood gone, surely that is enough wages to get two world class players on board?

Otherwise we will just be a well managed club struggling to finish top four every season :(

Right now as it stands, I see Chelsea winning the title this season. If Man U do not sign anyone to strengthen, I don't see them in the top two with Ferguson gone.
