Hello guys,

has anyone got any desk chair recommendations? I've been using a dinning room chair for nearly a year now, think its time for a change considering how long I spend sitting down.

I've been down to the superstores and sat on a few but none have taken my fancy :(

+1 got staples kashmir

Was recommended it by a friend and many on OCUk had a lot of good things to say about it. I then had a sit in one in a local staples store and I found it to be super comfy.

It is fairly expensive, but imho it is worth it - especially if you are going to be sitting on it for a fair chunk of time. That said, I would suggest going to a local staples store to see how you find it (as well as the other chairs they offer).

I was just looking at the thread with regards to the Kashmir chair, gonna call up my local staples and see if they got it in stock

I have one, not impressed. It wobbles slightly and the cushioning is a bit thin. I have a leather (fake) similar chair from the same shop and it's better (and cheaper).

Consider second hand / office clearance of much more expensive chairs instead - I certainly will next time!

I have bought a new chair a few months back, also from Stapples, but here in Portugal

the name of mine is Nano ( I believe you do not have that model on stapples.uk) and it is very comfy and suits me well ,because I have large shoulders and my weight is around 118 kgs:p

I was a bit worried because they are " china made", and my weight is a great "torture" test for any normal chair, but so far it´s holding very well :)

I took my Dad with me, we sat in every chair in staples, was the most comfortable chair in the whole store! And we sat on around 25 chairs, some really expensive and uncomfortable chairs. Just watching United vs Swansea

Ikea Markus FTW!

Sorry but that is a terrible chair, it really is. It's badly made, it has terrible support for people who might suffer back issues and it caused me no end of issues with Coccyx pain to the extent I binned it. As an older bloke than most on here I tend to find issues with things that younger people don't but it does also show crap and quality when it comes to chairs. I can sit on something like a Herman Miller all day with no issue at all. Within 2 hours on the Markus I have to get up and have really bad Coccyx pain. It might be fine for many, but it's not a quality product I assure you.

Well after sitting in this chair for nearly 6 hours now, the only bad things I can say are the lack of head support, (I am pretty tall guy) my head just droops off the back if I am sitting up straight.

I'm also going off my Markus and will be looking for a replacement. After a few hours without fail I get a dead arse. Think the padding is starting to wear out and sag.

I have this chair: http://www.buerostuhl24.com/buerostuhl-chefsessel-air-port-netzstoff-rot.10943.html

It's many times better than any ikea markus imo and not too expensive.

I've read a lot of positive posts about the Kashmir on these forums. I've finally caved in and bought one online from Staples today. It was half price, so I clawed open my wallet.

I hope you guys are right ! :D

This thread made me go and treat myself to a Kashmir today. It's £125 just now 50% off, and I badly needed a new chair so I just went for it. Wasn't sure if it was gonna be the same price in the shop as it was online, but went in to the shop anyway to try it out and just bought it there and then. Easy to build and unbelievably comfortable, especially compared to my ancient knackered fake leather Ikea thing.

Any chair where the back and seat are connected via the armrest so it can't tilt is pure garbage. You don't want a computer chair to be like a sofa that you sink into, it needs to be supportive. I've never understood the amount of fans that crap from Staples has.

At a minimum a chair needs to have:

  • Seat height adjustment
  • Back tilt adjustment
  • Armrest height adjustment
  • Movable lumbar support
  • Back tilt tension adjust
  • Seat depth adjustment

I have a Steelcase Think. Fantastic chair, worth every penny.
