hey guys,

im ordering a pair of msi 7950 twin frozr cards on friday, they will be replacing my 6990 that i have atm, is it worth it from the 6990?

the reason i ask is because if im not going to see decent performance increase from the 7950's then ill get a 144hz monitor instead, but at 380 for two cards its hard to say no.

i will be getting a 144hz anyway but if the cards are worth picking up still ill hold out on the monitor for a couple of months

stay with 6990 or go 7950CF?
thoughts please?

I went from 6970 crossfire to 7950 (just one to start with ) you will find a massive difference. A good 7950 overclocked is as fast if not faster than your 6990.

i will clock both at 1100/1500 anyway...

i shall buy this friday then :D

abit off topic but, what the best 27" 120/144hz monitor?

If you can source one - S27A750D
I used to own the 23" version, arguably the best monitor i owned honestly no idea why i sold it, other than the fault where the monitor would sometimes turn off without warning and struggle to turn back on :D

That's the sweet spot of these cards tbh. A nice balance between performance, noise and temps. There's a reason why Tommy, Rusty and myself all run these 24/7 light overclocks, or did run these clocks before Rusty went to the dark side.

haha any reason why it did that and is it fixable?

i was looking at the benq XL2720T and asus VG278HE, both are 400 other than those i dont know what else (only buy from overclockers)

I've never owned a BenQ monitor, only heard good things about their 120hz ones, currently running a 120hz Asus and used to own 3 144hz Asus monitors, they're brilliant the only downside is the size imo and lack of DP connectivity so eyefinity using the same monitors will be expensive if you ever want to dabble (DL-DVI adaptors)

I'm pretty sure the fault with the Sammy monitors was only with the 23" versions, i'd seriously keep an eye for the 750D (Post in MM, last one sold for £170)

Indeed he did. :p

Even with that though he's still over 50% behind my Tomb Raider score. That reminds me i should probably have gloated more about that. Efforts must be doubled.
