NHS stop-smoking service 'a success'

Spoken like a true chain smoker :p

;) I live in Brussels nearly everyone smokes here ! It's quite odd really, both here and france the vast majority of people seem to smoke yet the UK seems to have more problems

That said I am quitting, down from almost 20 a day to 4 a day at the most :)

Yes they do. "Vaping" is not smoking, nor is it associated with the negative health effects of smoking.

But what happens should you run out of cartridges or loose the e cig? The addiction will still be there. They stop people from smoking but only whilst they are available to the user.

Well, I have the means to mix up half a litre of eliquid at home, so I'll be fine. I have gone out and forgot to bring a spare battery before. I didn't go buy a pack of cigarettes. They taste horrific to me now. I have found that I actually don't get the same crazy need to vape as I did when I smoked, despite vaping more frequently than I smoked.

I don't care that I'm addicted to nicotine. People don't quit smoking primarily to escape their nicotine addiction. They quit to escape their harmful and expensive smoking addiction, which they are bound to by nicotine. I have removed the primary cause of health problems and reduced my costs to less than a third (assuming I pick up some new shiny stuff I don't really need) so I'm happy.

I went to the NHS just to get prescribed nicotine patches, not paying full price for them.

Second round of giving up, I vape, if I'm in someones house I'll ask if they mind, but in a public place, deal with it! I only vape when I'm drinking (only downfall to my last smoking cessation was smoking when drunk). I don't bother sober, don't think about it most of the time.

My vaping habit is probably easily put forward in the way a lot of people smoke cigars occasionally.

Vaping is similar to drinking coffee, coffee stinks, not everyone likes the smell of coffee, people can be addicted to coffee, it's terrible for your health. But I'm sure people would throw a **** fit if we up and banned coffee in public places, people can't get past the idea of "it looks like smoking so we must ban that too" with vaping. But without vaping I would crumble and smoke once I've had 10 pints.

i swear practically everyone in Holland smokes too, even my housemate who is a self proclaimed non-smoker smokes when we're out drinking :p

People who preach about smoking are worse than smokers in my view. It's easy enough to avoid smokers as they mostly confine themselves to specific areas. But it's nigh on impossible to avoid the smug anti-smoker lobby. Perhaps we need 'smug shelters' or 'preaching git' rooms?

How does one avoid smokers walking past them in the street? Passing cars whilst cycling with drivers/passengers exhaling out of the windows? Huddled around entrances to buildings?

That or a cape ! you can run through them donning the cape in front of your face like a cool beast. That or wear a batman mask and cape run into the middle of the group and perform a chun-li spinning bird kick, kicking all the cigs out of the hands then say "I am Batman" then run away again :D

Yes, this is both practical and fashionable.

Exactly - everybody can pretend they're in Breaking Bad. :)

I don't smoke, but I agree with this logic. It's the **** in cigarettes that causing the problems, nicotine addiction is not ideal, but soooooooo much better than it's not worth arguing over.

You can't ive just been out running 200m in front of me up a hill is a smoker puffing away, I can smell it, I'm breathing it in all the way up a massive hill! I hate to think what the increased respiratory rate and a heart rate of 155, has done to push those dirty chemicals round my body and I was only behind him for 30 seconds at the most, really need a ban everywhere!

Or you need to stop being such a bloody nonce bucket.

:D I've got to agree, the stuff you've been breathing in from the cars passing you will be doing a lot more damage!

Exactly. I can run 10 miles on a treadmill despite being a 15-20 a day smoker for the last 8 years. If 30 seconds of passive smoke is really that tough, I'd suggest consulting your GP before you drop dead from respiratory failure. :/

There's a cracking Bill Hicks joke where he told a story about being outside having a cigarette when somebody came up to him and starting coughing at him. His response was "Shoot, it's a good job you don't smoke with that cough! I'm on forty a day and I don't even cough like that." :D

you need to get a grip - the stuff they put in unleaded petrol is doing you far more damage.
maybe run with a full respirator ???
