On another note, if MS do announce a release date today, what is everyone's guess as to what it might be? I'm thinking early November, I'm sure they'd love to get a jump on Sony if they can.

fair enough rules are rules, i guess the rule is sad then(assuming that is one of the rules), nothing wrong with pointing out/asking someone why their rumour was wrong, as long as its done in the correct manner.
My guess was November 5th to launch with COD. I imagine they'll try to get out the door before Sony.

I'd have a guess at mid-November. If the rumours about the performance turn out to be true, would it really be wise for Microsoft to jump the gun and get it out the door before Sony?

Possibly not, but I would assume that any date they announce they will be certain they can hit. They've always maintained November though, so any release earlier than originally planned will only be by a few weeks, so they're not jumping the gun that much.

My guess is the 1st or 5th November in EU. The only reason I think this is because MS know most people will buy one or the other (PS4 or XBO), but those who want both will likely only be able to afford one of them if released at the same time. So to maximise sales they'd need to release around a month earlier than PS4.
