**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Possibly not, but I would assume that any date they announce they will be certain they can hit. They've always maintained November though, so any release earlier than originally planned will only be by a few weeks, so they're not jumping the gun that much.

I guess, or at least I'd hope that a company like Microsoft wouldn't release something they aren't sure about just to beat the competition :p I wonder how things would go down if they announced a release date in the EU for the 15th November, get the attention of those who are too impatient too wait until the 29th for the PS4 and possibly jump ship (I know some people who would probably do this just to avoid the wait).

I don't think only 2 weeks before the PS4 release would be enough to make people get an Xbox One instead. I think it would have to be a minimum of 3 weeks, and for MS to have somehow gotten Ubisoft to release Watch Dogs at the same time. Watching their friends play Watch Dogs on a next gen system 3 weeks before they can might be enough for some people I suppose.

Imagine if it launches the same day as PS4, all hell would break loose :p

My biggest attraction is the much better controller, the PS3/4 one is too small for me to use comfortably, and its worse each time I use it. I also believe the design will allow Xbox One to run cooler than the PS4, which means it will be nice and quiet. Then there is Forza 5! And now we get Fifa included :D

Not to go on the offensive here, but you seem obsessed with justifying your decision based on unknowns. You've no idea whether the Xbox will run cooler or quieter than the PS4 and you've no idea what the controller will really be like, and it's relatively pointless trying to guess. Why not just focus on the games, that's why we buy these expensive boxes to stuck under our TV isn't it?

To be fair though, the controller is a fairly safe bet. If you loved the 360 controller, odds are you will love the Xbox One controller as well, especially when all hands on reports so far have said it's even better than the 360 controller. That's a pretty good achievement, considering the majority of people had the 360 controller down as one of, if not the best controller ever.

The fact it's out earlier or not will make no difference to launch day sales, pre-order allocations for both consoles will far outweigh any stock they have available. There will ofcourse be units here and there on launch day (supermarkets etc.) but make no mistake both consoles will be sold out for some time.

The question Microsoft will really be asking is how much of that pre-order allocation MUST we meet at launch? Considering every week is anywhere from 100,000 - 300,000 extra units, if they wait a couple weeks they can meet a higher % of the pre-orders.
Assuming 3x production lines @ 300k a month per line +/- 15%, about right for a console.

You have to take into account most of the sales will most likely be christmas presents for kids. So as you said it doesn't matter when the launch date is as long as it's plenty of time before christmas.

I haven't heard that much at all, I have heard the DS4 is much better than the DS3 but the general consensus still seems to be that the XB1 is the best, just not by the same margin as before (although the DS3 did trounce the 360 controller for platforming).

One of the DICE devs said that the DS4 is his choice of pads for the next gen:
The PS4 controller is my preference for Gen4
It's better shape, size, features, texture, triggers, sticks. Everything,

I really don't see why people still bash the PS4 when they haven't even tried it and loads of people in the industry have said it's excellent

Because it still has that horrible shape and bad analog stick placement, both analogs next to each other just feels wrong to me after using the 360 controller.

I don't care what any dice employee and other people in the industry think. They're getting paid lots of money to say nice things anyway.

So you're dismissing something without even trying it? I'd rather give something a go before bashing it.
Me too. I never loved or hated the DS3, it was an okay controller, but nothing more. The DS4 does look nice though, definitely the nicest looking controller Sony have done so far.

Maybe Sony are paying them money to say it, just like you say MS are paying others to be nice about their console?
