Monitor Decision.

Well the 2711 has some pretty agressive anti-glare coating wich will decrease the picture quality. Most people absolutely hate it. And i dont think you will need wide gamut. I also believe the response time is worse on these monitors but im not sure about that.

Im waiting for the PB278Q myself. It should be released within 1,5 week. My first choice was the U2713HM but those screens seems to have a lot of backled bleeding.

Buying a U2713HM is like participating a lotery. Sometimes you get lucky. I know that statement is exaggerated but you can't deny that a lot of people are complaining about the blb problem.


Stores here in holland got the PB278Q in stock :) I really would like to order it but im gonna wait and see how its gonna turn out.

Got my U2711 today, and while I haven't had much time with it yet, initial impressions coming from my old Asus 23" 3D monitor are that it's big. Like, really big. And the resolution is superb.

The anti-glare coating is pretty aggressive, but even after less than an hour's use, I'm not finding it that intrusive, although it's far from great on white/light backgrounds. Will still take some getting used to, though.

For Windows use, I'm really not missing the 120Hz at all. I fired up a game quick just to see if it was horrendously slow or had excessive ghosting, and I'm pleasantly surprised. It's not as smooth as the 120Hz, but give it a week, and I'm pretty sure I'll stop noticing.

All in all, it's a lovely screen if you look past the anti-glare, which after my Asus, is less annoying than the reflections.
 
So after much debate and deliberating with myself I think that I have decided to go with the Asus PB278Q 27" as not only does this have top resolution but its an IPS monitor.

Most people I have read reviews by say that they would prefer picture quality over 120Hz.
 
Wont be for a while yet but will defo let you know, also apparently its not an IPS but a PLS as the screens are designed by Samsung, so I have read anyway :-).

Glossy is great if you're in a studio or somewhere you can control the lighting, but for those of us who just want a nice, big monitor for general use (mine is by a window), glossy just isn't a great choice. And I just don't like sitting in the dark when I'm using my PC. It gives me a headache and eye fatigue. For professional use, though, it's got to be glossy because it's going to be a truer to life image.

Let us know what you think of the Asus. I looked at one before going for my U2711 because I got a good deal on it.
 
So been reading more into 120hz monitors and now I have been swayed 50/50 again lol.

Resolution is good but when playing FPS and other games wouldn't higher FPS make it smoother therefor making overall game play better.?
 
Sorry to resurrect such an old post but I was asked on my opinion...

This monitor has been noting but Bliss.

Its well worth the money. I did have 3, but that was a bit overkill at the time (kind of wish I never returned them to be fair lol).

Its big and the image is lush. But personally I don't have the most experience when It comes to monitors.

But the fact its Easily swiveled and adjusted just makes it a dream.

I recommend to anyone looking for a 27" monitor.

Hi are you talking about the Asus PB278Q 27 Im thinking about buying this monitor myself sometime this year it's just the PWM that worries me.
 
Hmm... I haven't noticed any flickering.

This monitor is a PLS and I believe it uses the Samsung PLS technology.

To be honest Its just amazing, Kinda wish I never got rid of my other 2 and they have gone up in price now haha.

I've been reading that the Eizo FlexScan EV2736W is the one to consider over the Viewsonic (link).

It's a fair bit more expensive at £568 + shipping. It does come with a 5 year warranty though.

Thats a lot of money... For that I would defo go for the Asus.

As I said I highly recommend.

But if no one buys them the price will drop then I can buy 2 more :D
