**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

They already are with Free Games With Xbox Live Gold. Shame its free games which are old and most already own.

That's not even competition, Microsoft's Games with Gold is laughable compared to the content offered through PS+. I imagine when the new consoles arrive Microsoft will want to improve that aspect of Gold to bring it up to speed with what Sony are offering, especially as the Playstation 4 is adding party chat and other improvements to the OS.

PS+ is one area where Sony are well ahead, so much so that I wonder how they make money from it. I haven't bought a Vita game in months and only The Last Of Us on PS3, it makes it great value and would love MS to do something similar but I don't expect it.

Will be very interesting to see how PS+ works for PS4 as I can't see them giving out a full price game each month for at least a few months (other than PSN titles), would be happily proven wrong!

So, regarding plans to release a kinnectless Xbox

http://m.uk.ign.com/articles/2013/0...solutely-no-plans-for-xbox-one-without-kinect

And why would they? They spent 100m improving the controller, imagine how much they spent on kinect! Why just ditch it? They'll push this massively.

They are hardly likely to say otherwise right now are they. They have back peddled on just about everything. It wasn't that long ago we were told to deal with it :D

When kinect games and the sales are not doing well against the ps4 they will bring out a kinect less bundle and spin it as what the consumer wanted.

I agree its not compared but Sony got desperate with offering free games on PS+ (which is really a glorified rental service) I dont see them keeping this up for the next 2 years unless they repeat the same cycle of games.

MS dont really need go down that route yet until the amount of PS online players over takes the amount who play on Xbox Live.

yeah got my preorder fully paid for already and shipped direct from manufacturer thru a catalogue company for release day! Not sure if I'll get a day one edition though but not bothered.

Hope you get it for release, I personally wouldn't trust any catalogue company to get me a console on release as it's not their primary business. If it's coming direct from MS though then I'm sure it'll be fine.

I love the service and the call I had when joining this particular catalogue and they told me I will get it on release date as they have a deal directly with microsofts factory and understand the needs of excited gamers too. 3 months interest free for £399 too!!!!!!!! (used a £30 HUKD voucher tho)

Also has anyone seen any news on what kind of prices digital games will be on the marketplace when the Xbox One launches? Or do we just have to go off what the prices are like now?
I think this will be a big factor in whether people will go digital or not come next-gen

This is something i want to know, any games i'm likely to play long term (Forza & Battlefield), i want digital copies really so i can fast switch to the games without having to change disc's. Games i'd only play for a few months i'd buy on disc, so i can sell them on.

MS have confirmed pre-order bonues and Limited editions will be available digitally (not when though) Clicky

I'm hoping the digital prices wont be the inflated RRP prices retailers sometimes show.

Now if i could pre-order digital copies of Forza and Battlefield on xbox.com for the same price or less than online retailers, that would be great!

I think the absolute best case scenario would be download prices within £5-10 of retail prices. You're unlikely to see prices match retail in most cases and even less likely to see them be lower. It's not just a case of greed; MS, Sony, the publishers etc simply can't afford to alienate the retail channels by undercutting them in pricing. This is why retail-exclusive editions of games and pre-order bonuses exist.

Well we know that first party titles will be £50 on the marketplace seeing as thats what MS revealed was the RRP. Looking at 3rd party titles I can't see them being much more but perhaps anywhere between £50-£60 just like on the 360. Digital games this is obviously retailers will set their own prices

If the Day One edition of Dead Rising 3 is £49.99 on the Marketplace I will be very tempted to buy it digitally instead of getting the normal version through ShopTo. It's not a game I would ever plan on trading in, and I definitely like the idea of being able to swap to it easily without having to get up and find the disc.

Well if you go to the MS store online they have all the launch exclusives like forza, dead rising etc. for £50. Not sure how much baring that will have on marketplace prices but I've gotta guess they'll be the same.

I would assume so too. I just hope they release the prices so I have enough time to swap my pre-order around as I've got a bundle from ShopTo with the console and both Dead Rising 3 and Ryse.

If someone wanted to go all digital ,would it use up the space quick?

Well to answer this part of your question is quite hard because we don't really know how big the games are going to be but I can say that on my 360 I have a 250Gb HDD with about 60GB free and I've got about 8-10 games installed plus XBLA games and DLC.

Remember though if you've finished with a game you can just delete it from your HDD and then re-download it whenever you want to

500Gb and no although it does allow you to expand that storage through external HDD
I wonder if the USB3 ports on the Xbox One provide enough power so I can use one of the USB powered hard drives. I already have a 500GB external drive I could easily use, and I'd rather not have to use a normal powered one if I don't have to.

I'd say they most probably would although I've not seen anything on it. it would certainly be helpful although I don't see me going over 500GB anyway :)
If I need space I'll just delete stuff like old games you could always re-download
