Should water companies be banned form adding fluoride to our water?

Which brand says contact the "poison centre" if you swallow mire than a brush full? I'd be willing to bet the image is fake. And why not contact a hospital?

nah it's American. they have "poison control" who you phone when you've done something stupid. if you did phone them over toothpaste id imagine they say "keep an eye on them and if anything seems wrong go to hospital"

your toothpaste pic is 1000ppm

so say 1 milligram is one part, thats 1 gram in 1kg of toothpaste.

So to die you're going to need to swallow 5kg of the stuff.

Good luck with that.

the undertakers would be happy at least as the corpse would be minty fresh ........... ??

no, I think they'd contact the whitehouse and obama would greenlight a tomahawk strike on the colgate factory..............

Water fluoridation has been banned in many countries. If it is not dangerous why ban it?. Some countries that have banned putting fluoride in water are China, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Japan. Nearly all of Europe’s water supply is fluoride-free.

You are right when you say why consult a poisons center. What is so dangerous about toothpaste that eating a little bit results in you calling a poisons center?

Somebody faked the image? Look at all these images

Some countries ban being gay, movie theaters, women's sports, bacon... and so on.

They don't seem overly dangerous, so why ban them?

I am sure somebody will laugh at the link because it is not the British Brainwashing Corporation, the Guaradian, the Times etc.

including a new study published in the Journal of the American Dental Association confirming fluoride as a toxic substance that actually destroys teeth, particularly those of developing young children and babies

In 2006, a study published in The Lancet identified fluoride as "an emerging neurotoxic substance" that causes severe brain damage.

About a month later, another study published in Environmental Health Perspectives found a definitive link between fluoride intake and reduce IQ levels , indicating once again that fluoride intake causes cognitive damage.

Is that enough medical science and chemistry for you? The lancet published fluoride as an emerging neurotoxic substance. The Journal of the American Dental Association confirming fluoride as a toxic substance that actually destroys teeth.

(swaps tin foil hat for sarcasm hat)

Still what would those idiots knows about it. The lancet lol. The American dental association lol. Until you come back with a BBC article about it then I will not believe fluoride is dangerous.

I don't why they do it. I only know they have a reason for doing it. Whether that reason is wrong or not is not the point. So lets say Russia bans movie theaters. Why they banned movie theaters it is not the point I am making. My point would be Russia in their view has a reason for banning movie theaters and they have done so.

So following that line some countries have banned fluoride in drinking water. I don't know why. I just know they have banned fluoride in water and I know they must have had a reason for doing so. They didn't just think one day "Lets ban fluoride in water". They had a reason for the ban.

They say fluoride fights against tooth decay. It is in a lot of things besides our water

Toothpaste with fluoride
Baby formula
Foods cooked in fluoride
Canned soup
Mechanically deboned chicken (i.e. chicken nuggets)
Food cooked in Teflon cookware
Soda pop and soft drinks
Fruit juice (unless it is fresh-squeezed at home)
Beer and wine (unless they are imported from European countries or other areas that don’t fluoridate the water)
Packaged and processed foods
Anesthetics
Fluoridated salt
Cigarettes

How is my statement stupid? Look at the warning on the toothpastes. They are basically saying if you swallow more than teaspoon full of toothpaste consult a poisons center. A teaspoon full is enough for you to have to consult a poisons center? They are telling you fluoride is poisonous. I don't care if they are diluting it. They are diluting a poison and putting it on our water.

Concentration makes a big difference.
There are cells in your body who processes are regulated by small amounts of otherwise toxic chemicals.
If you breathe 100% oxygen for a period of time, you will die. Are you aware of this?
No you are not, as that nasty poisionous oxygen shouldn't be allowed to be added to the air because at high dose it kills you.

Anyway, I have found it generally tupical that people who are very anti water fluroidation tend to drink bottled water, as they dislike the reasoning behind chlorinating the water also. You might not fall into this category, but it leaves more than 90% of the antifluroide lobby as strawmen, as they don't use the water, and wouldn't with or without fluroide.

You state inyour OP that the concept of it preventing cavities is laughable. Unfortunately in that statement you demonstrate a complete ignorance and level of review that degrades anything else you could say to a laughable.

There are masses of peer reviewed and well constructed studies into the beneficial effects of fluroide and within Northern Ireland, a region with one of the highest level of cavities in the world, when one region was fluroidated in the past, the decay rate dropped by 40%. Thats a very great many children who no longer needed referred to hospital for general anaesthetic operations to have carious teeth removed.

Do you use a fluroide toothpaste personally?

So the OP is finally doing research beyond, omg a high dose will harm you. If you want take a look at what fluorine gas can do.

Anyway, there appear to be many reasons why other countries have stopped, the most effective argument, imo, being the freedom to choose what medical treatments you receive.

No don't use fluoride toothpaste since finding out about the dangers.
