**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Pre'd with Asda way back in May, but did another with Shopto on 21st August as I'd prefer to use them for delivery.

Wonder if that will still be OK for launch day?
 
Damn only just realised that I could no longer use my trusty Dell 2405 with this, no way to connect it up. Dunno why I missed the fact it's HDMI only :(

Backwards compatibility has been dying for a while. You can however plug your Xbox 360 into your Xbox One's HDMI passthrough port and use them together that way. It's not ideal and will still take up space under your TV, but that's the best I could suggest.

PS4 will always win, it (Sony) has a much larger installed base and PS3 outsells Xbox by some margin as the incumbent. It's interesting to see if sentiment has changed a little around XO since the dire initial reveal and subsequent internet rage.

It's not often you see MS as the underdog and for me they're doing a damn good job at challenging the practical monopoly Sony had enjoyed for some years even killing of Sega Dreamcast *sob*) and marginalising Nintendo. XO won't even come close to outselling PS4 initially (although once the dedicated gamer sales have been done it will be interesting to see if XO builds momentum over the next couple of years with it's support for TV/Media/Skype/Sports/Win8 Apps etc. as well as holding its own for gaming).

Interesting to see despite having been dismissed it looks like PS4 is going to try to emulate Kinect in a limited way with the eye toy camera, they've certainly managed to run rings around the MS marketing team for gamers.

For a huge global company to me they seem to have been genuinely humble in taking the flack and doing a lot to work with their gaming customers to adjust things. It's not many companies who would take customer feedback into account and actually do something with it before they release (yes, yes, I know there will be shouts of "they had no choice, their stupid, U-turn, 180, win for internet rage etc")

All in all I'm quite happy with what MS have done with XO despite the massive PR fumbles initially.

I have an A04 2407 in the loft still in the box. Will that support it and still leave me a connection for the PC?
 
Looking it up DR3 is being published by Microsoft, so if you don't have a X1 then your only hope is if it ever gets ported to PC, or buy a X1 of course :)

It will support it fine, just do what I do and get a DVI-HDMI lead into a decent HDMI switch - then another DVI-HDMI lead to PC and a HDMI-HDMI to console.

Just make sure the switch supports 1080p, the cheaper tat didnt use to...
