Ive been entertaining the idea of selling my 2gb 7850 and upgrading to a 670. Considering you can pick up a 670 for a little more than i payed for the 7850 this time last year.

Worth the upgrade? And what can I expect to get for my 7850 in your opinion?

Or is it worth looking into other cards? Don't really want to break the bank though!!

Maybe not gona be that much of an improvment as the 7850 i think isnt that far behind the 670. Some things it might be better at than the 7850 but worth it, i duno.

Depends how much you got for ur old card and how much you bought the 670 for. Which theres a good 670 for 160 in mm at the mo i spotted which would be a good buy for anyone at that price. But going from a 7850 i duno.

Actually yeah if u can get a good priced 670 it should be a good upgrade providing you can get a good chunk out of selling ur 7850 for towards one. As ive just noticed it your 7850 kinda performs about as good as my old 570 card which i have just moved from a 570 to a 670 and for 160 quid for a 670 i thought MINE!. :) And yeah it was worth it. :)

I think i'm just getting the 1 year itch and looking for an excuse to upgrade really! Cheers for the links. I'll do a bit more digging and see if i can justify spending some money ha!
 
Just edited my post above which i kinda changed my opinion about the upgrade for you.

We have similar sytems i.e 3570k about 4ghz and 8gb ram and same motherboard (might ask for ur oc settings btw hehe) and i have a 128gb m4. :) 670 card works great with this setup for 1080p :) I flogged my 570 for 88 quid so 80 quid at the end of postage, 20 quid for selling the splinter cell game i got with it so its really just cost 61 quid for the 670 card. To me that was a great upgrade for not so much money really.
 
That was my trail of though too. I think I can probably justify spending £60 on the upgrade to a 670 (or 7950). As for the OC settings i'm pretty much a beginner and just edged up the multiplier and left the voltage at stock (which is 1.2 at full load i believe). Whether this is right or wrong i dont know. But its been stable for 15 months so guess its fine!

As for Xfire id love too, but money dictates my situation!

It left oc'ed 570/80's@2xMSAA on route to 4XMSAA.:p

It's not far off stock 7950/670 on those clocks and the only thing noticeable is the placebo effect or another 2xAA at best.

The only real noticeable performance gain imho would be either CrossFire or 780 type performance, anything less will be a bit of a letdown tbph.
 
Just wait till the new AMD cards are released next month and see what happens to prices and performance then

I only said that it was near my 570 based only on that benchmark i found.
 
I thought there was quite a big difference. My 7850, oc to 1100mhz core ran for example tombraider on high/ultra settings and would occassionaly drop to aro und 50fps or so,my 670 at stock(would boost to around 1070)everything set on max and never dropped below 60.
its nice to be able to afford the power of this 670,but the 7850 is a more than capable card. you will notice a difference.
 
I have both cards in different systems. I would go ahead and get the 670 at the prices that they are at now.

Big differences between the two and I do love my 7850. It's a great card with excellent value.
