I recently found two Sandisk Ultra CF cards in a wood in the south of france, a couple of hundred meters from the nearest road. They looked as if they'd been sitting there for quite a while and I didn't reckon they'd work, but I decided to pick them up and see what I could do with them. It's only now that I've had the time to take a look, and surprisingly both cards are working and have around 500 photos on them from someone's holiday.

The photos are the usual holiday stuff (no hot naked girls unfortunately!) and I'd imagine whoever lost them would very much like to get them back. They were taken quite recently (21st August) and I know the exact location where I found them, so I was wondering if it may be worth trying to trace them. I'm not too sure how I'd go about doing that though, and a large part of me is thinking it might be easier to just wipe the cards and be happy that I've got two free CF cards!

So, what do people think I should do? Just erase them or try doing a bit of detective work?

Make a copy of them all, and post a few on Flickr/Photo websites and see if they pick it up?

I recall a similar situation, but with a camera, and it made its way back to the owners...

Right click the files, there should hopefully be some exif information, possibly the make, model and serial number of the camera, possibly some copyright information with the name of the user/or a website.

Print off some of the pictures of the people you think own the photos, frame them, put them around your house, take some photos of you with those pictures in the background (Like family photos...) then go and assassinate the Pope. Get a friend to leak those photos to the Press and imagine the total mind-**** those people will have when they see you with their pictures framed in the background on the 9 o'clock News.

*Runs to wipe every memory card owned*

They were taken on a 5D MK2 so I don't think there'll be any location data. All of them seem to be taken on a holiday, but some seem to be in a hotel. I'll upload a couple here if people are interested?

Edit some ghostly, haunting looking shadow characters onto the photos then put them back where you found them.

It's quite possible that someone that has a 5D uses a photography forum or two. May be worth joining some forums and asking if anyone has lost their cards.

Show us a couple of facials.
